I95S i gQLE POI NT GOLD HILL Californians To End Visit Gold Hill Mr. and Mrs. John Cogswell were to leave next week for California to. take their daughter, Mrs. Richard Abbott, and their grand-daughter Debra Joy, back to their home near Los Angeles. They have been vis iting hers with her parents and her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abbott, Grants Pass, for the . past three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Collins, their daughter Gail and Mari- lynn Harrison spent Labor day at the beach, driving as far as Eureka, Calif., and visited points of interest along the way. Mr. and Mrs. Melford Hood and daughters Suzanne and Helen returned from a three day trip to Jefferson, Ore., where they visited with Mrs. Hood's mother, Mrs. F. B. Jones. Mrs. Jack White and three chil dren left by plane recently for Downey, Calif., where she was called by the death of her fa ther, Frank Mant, who had been ill for some time. Pat Whitmore drove over from Klamath Falls to take back his wife and children who had been visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Densmore, and Pat'sa folks, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Whitmore. Mrs. Whit more's sister, Sandra Densmore, went back with them where she will visit for a few days. Fred Lester of Lesters Mar ket, Gold Hill, is on a vacation trip to California where he is visiting with his brother, Hoyt Lester and family, at Manteca, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Throne and son Marvin have returned from a two weeks vacation, first vis itingwith Mrs. Throne's sister, Mrs. Boru O'Brian, Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe. Driving to Red Cloud Neb., they visited with his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. I Jasper Smith. They were also guests of friends, Dr. and Mrs. Mountford, at Davenport, Neb., and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Kem- mel at Beatrice, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. George Blair and daughter Mary, Albany, spent the holidays at the home of his sister, Mr. and Mrs..Al Harrison and family. Mr. and Mrs. John Jore and daughter Diana are visiting in southern California with rela tives and friends. Mrs. Ethel Tustin is visiting with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Jones. She is from Eckley, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. George Martin have had her sister, Mrs. A. H. Leeper, Roseburg, visiting them recently The Rev. and Mrs. Hatch are in Portland and will bring back their furniture for the new home they have bought in Medford. Rev. Hatch is the minister of the Gold Hill Community Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Robbins and three boys have moved to Roseburg where he is employed. Sorority to Meet In Grants Pass Mrs. Alice Ottis, 1400 South Pacific highway, Grants Pass, will be hostess for a meeting of Epsilon chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, at her home, 12:30 p.m. September 17. Mr. Kernohan, following thir teen years as director of music at Kamehameha schools in Honolulu, has been assistant headmaster at Montecito School for Girls in Santa Barbara for the past three years. The bungalow type house Mr. and Mrs. Don McGovern are building on their property here is nearing completion. They ex pect to have it ready to move into in about a month. Mr.' and Mrs. Roy Ashpole and son Don and wife drove to Portland and back over Labor day week -end. Mr. and Mrs. 'Rick' Walga- mot, who now live in Reno, Nev., drove up to Eagle Point Labor day week end to visit Mrs. Walgamot's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harnish. When they returned home the first of the week the children of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Ballard, also of Reno, returned with them, after having spent a part of the sum mer, here with their grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harnish. - The Rev. Joe Munshaw and family moved into the Commu nity church, Eagle Point, last week. Until moving here the family lived at Central Point. He will hold the pastorate of Eagle Pomt Community church The community in general feel that we are very fortunate in deed to have secured this young forceful speaker to fill the pulpit of our church and all are most welcome to come and hear him. Mrs. Paul Vigus Leaves for Home Mrs. Paul Vigus, the former Connie Inskeep, has returned to her ' home in Santa Barbara, Calif., after spending four months in Medford with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. I. D. Ins keep, 2401 Hillcrest road. Mrs. Vigus' daughter, Laurie, was born here August 17. They were accompanied as far as San Fran cisco by Mrs. Inskeep. They were assisted by Misses Linda Flyn and Gypsey Beams of the Girls Missionary group. A total of 860 cans of pears were put up and will be sent to Assembly of God missions in India, Africa and South Amer ica. A fellowship meeting of As sembly of God churches in south ern Oregon will be held at the Jacksonville church Monday with a meeting at 2:30 p.m.; sup per at 5:00; and a gathering at 7:30 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hamaker and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Bennet and their families, Medford, spent last Sunday at Lake of the Woods. O. J. Fisher returned home last week after a stay at the Sa cred Heart hospital and is re cuperating nicely. Bob Berrimen is at home this week recovering from an injury to his arm received last week while blasting stumps for a local logging company. A piece of fly ing stump struck his arm, cutting it badly. The injury required several stitches and Berrimen was hospitalized several days, but is reported to be recuper ating. V Mrs. Imogene Schmidt has re signed as librarian as of Sept. 1, and Mrs. Ted Hewlett has ac cepted the position. Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Schmidt returned this week from a few days visit in Portland with his sister. They visited friends in Kelso, Wash., before returning. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Merritt and daughter, Martha Kay, Mt. Vernon, Wash., visited over the week end at the M. D. Schmidt home. They were enroute to' the midwest on a vacation trip. Mrs. Pearl Kitchen, former resident ' of Jacksonville, has moved back here to make her home At 702 Elm st.
