Extortion Attempt Brings Year in Jail : Portland U.PJ Two men who earlier pleaded guilty to at tempts to extort $30,000 from a former Russian emigrant have been sentenced to one-year coun ty jail terms. Multnomah County Circuit Judge William Dickson yester day imposed tne sentences? on John W. Corbin, 26, and Roy L. Bower, 44, both of Portland. . The two men were accused of threatening to have Solomon Olimansky, 70-year-old contrac tor, exported to his native Rus sia if they were not given the $30,000. E. Stevens south of Phoenix, ac cording to state police. Investigating officers said the mishap occurred when Lloyd Keith Thorp, 21, of 5179 Crater Lake highway, the driver of the truck, attempted to avoid a sedan operated by Vida Helen Morse, 5055 Pacific highway. Police reported that the truck swung into the lawn of the Stevens home, and the trailer overturned. Some damage to the truck was reported, and the lawn, shrubs, and mail boxes were torn up. ' Second among the top five herds was a 20-head herd owned by Three Jay's Guernsey Farm. The herd produced an average of 956 pounds'of milk with 41.2 pounds of butterfat. ' Other Leaden. Other top herds were owned by R. L. and .Blanche Wyant, 31 cows producing 765 pounds of milk with 40 pounds of but terfat; E. B. The 49-year-old woman, in se clusion in her fashionable sub urban home under psychiatric care for reported "bereavement shock," surrendered through counsel after warrants were is sued for her arrest as an acces sory before the fact of an abor tion causing death, and on a charge of conspiracy.
