MayorMiller said a date will be set soon to receive the award here. (U.R) Many college educators worried about getting space for expected heavy classes in the next few years should take lessons in how to utilize the space they have, a California educator says. Donavon Smith said there are very few colleges in the country that could not stretch their pres ent facilities to accommodate more students. "If classrooms were used at a full capacity schedule, they would be filled eight hours a day for all week days," he said. He predicted that most build ing by colleges in the years ahead .will emphasize expansion of non-classroom facilities. - Smith is working on a survey of nine of the Big Ten univer sities, part of which concerns space utilization. $2,671 Collected for Flood Relief Fund A total of $2,671.S3 was col lected by the Jackson county chapter of the National Ameri can Red Cross northeast flood fund campaign, Red Cross offi cials announced today. The goal for Jackson county was $1,603. The largest share of the funds came from Tag Day efforts last Wednesday, when the Medford United Crusade author ized the one-day campaign for the drive. Red Cross officials expressed appreciation for contributions to flood victims in the northeast. They said $2,200 of the total has been sent, and- the remainder will be sent today.
