I t o Tighter Slock Regulations Seen Portland 0J.R Tighter reg ulations for uranium stocks and other cheap "penny issues" are being planned by the National Association of Securities Deal ers, Board Chairman Harold E. wood, St. Paul, Minn., said to day. The restrictions would be de signed to reduce the possibility or fraud, Wood said. Uranium stocks and Canadian oil and mming stocks are- the "biggest present headache," he said. The investment broker de clared many uranium issues raised just enough money to afford handsome profits to the promoter, his? geologists and Un scrupulous lawyers and secur ities dealers. - Nothing has been left over in many instances, Wood said, to finance any actual mining op erations. Innocent stock buyers in such cases are left with worthless certificates. The association is holding con fidential hearings in Denver on complaints against "a large num ber of uranium stock dealers, Wood said. Members found guil ty of malpractice would be sus pended or expelled from the association.
