Contest Planned hor Bridge Club; Winners Named Riverside Bridge club will O ripen a contest series Wednes day, August 24, it was an nounced at the last session. Extra rating points will be issued to the winners of the series. " Mrs. Yvonne Dalen and Roy Pruitt headed north-south win ners, and Al Gilhousen and M. E. Pruitt east-west winners for the last meeting. The former pair scored 89 points, and the 0 latter pair lOOVi point. Other north-south winners were John Solheim and T. J. Fuson, second, 91i; Mrs. Rich ard Milestone and Gen. J. P. Vachon, third, 83Vi; Mrs. George Family Leaves Mr. and Mrs. Royal Gleason, Linda and Susan, returned to their home at Albany Friday after spending a vacation here. They visited Mrs. Gleason's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaw, 614 Pine street, aod Mr. Glea son's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ern est Gleason, 2684 Crater Lake highway, as well as other relatives. Auxiliary Names Two Delegates; Projects Planned Mrs. Ivan Lusk and Mrs. I. D. Canfield were elected delegates to the national encampment of Veterans of Foreign Wars auxil iary at the last meeting of the auxiliary to Crater Lake post. Mrs. Lusk is president and Mrs. Canfield is treasurer of the auxiliary. Mrs. B. B. Ramsey and Mrs. Ernest N. Braunig were named alternates. The auxiliary plans to spon sor Girl Scout Troop 158 the coining year, as it has for the past three years. Mrs. Maurice Ritchie will be leader, and Mrs. Wilma Warren, assistant. The group also planned to aid the field day program at Camp White September 4 which is sponsored by the various VFW posts and auxiliaries of the val ley. October 28 a watermelon feed will be held at TouVelle park for men at camp. The auxiliary sewing club will begin meeting again in the fall, and will make articles for a bazaar. Mrs. Ramsey is chair man.v Mrs. Russell Zundel, essay chairman, will distribute essay material in local high schools in preparation for the annual contest. The auxiliary plans a mem bership attendance contest, a dis trict promotion project of Mrs. Edna Lafferty, Ashland, district president. Mrs. Fred Lawrence, junior past president for the district, announced that District 7 had been honored with a 101 per cent membership certificate during the annual encampment. This district is also, one of four to sponsor donations for an Ore gon cottage at the national VFW home. Refreshments for the meeting were . served by Mrs. Ralph Pittock and Mrs. Ben Allison to both post and auxiliary members. Mrs. Raymond Artmire and Rose McCollum, Prospect, were guests. Mrs. Art mire spoke and read a prayer. Games were played with Car ol and William Krause receiving prizes, and all children present were given balloons. William Krause, who served as flag bearer, led the sunshine march and penny drill, when candy was served. A watermelon feed followed the business meeting. Frances Artmire and Donna Krause were on the refreshment committee. H. G. Wilson, John Raymond and Frank Artmire were guests for the refreshment hour. Next meeting will be Septem ber 11 at the home of the Wil sons, 7 Chestnut street, from 2 to 4 pjn. This will be a wiener roast. Picnic Sunday Medford unit of Oregon Beau tician's association held a swim ming party and picnic at Jack son Hot springs Sunday. The event was for association mem bers and their families.
