Mr. and Mrs. Charley Shearer
of Portland were visitors last
week at the home of Shearer's
cousin, Bob Finney. Accom
panied by Mrs. Evelyn Ogden
they took an afternoon's drive
to Steamboat where Finney and
Shearer lived as children.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nelson and
son Michael, of Lebanon, Ore ,
were visitors here during the
past week. Mrs. Nelson is the
former Barbara Niedermyer,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Niedermyer, Jacksonville, with
whom they stayed while on va
cation there. They also visited
Nelson's folks, Mr. and Mrs.
Guy O. Nelson, Vawter rd.,
Medford. They enjoyed a family
picnic including some friends at

Mr. and Mrs. Clinton A. Smith
returned this week from a 4,000
mile vacation trip. The Smiths
were gone four weeks and re
port a wonderful time visiting
relatives and old friends. Most
of their time was spent in Den
ver, Colo, and they took several
sight-seeing side trips from
there. They drove home down
through Idaho, visiting several
National Parks along the way.
J. R. Hamaker, while return
ing to work at Prospect one
night last week, struck and
killed a deer and badly damaged
his car. He was not injured.
Mrs. George Noble, Bonanza,
Ore., has been visiting relatives
in Medford, Eagle Point, and
Ashland and on Monday called
on friends in Jacksonville.
Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Swing,
Medford, were Jubilee visitors
in Jacksonville- and also visited
Mrs. Swing's cousin Mrs. J. B.
Noble where they enjoyed a
outdoor lunch in the Noble's
yard.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Street-
er, Biggs, Calif., spent a few
days last week with Mrs,
Streeter's aunt Mrs. Fred Chris-
tean.
Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Fitch and
two children, Buddy and Haw-
ley, from Scotia, Calif., were
visitors in this vicinity this
week. In Ashland they were
guests at the home of Fitch's
brother. Warren, and family.
On Friday they spent the day in
Jacksonville visiting old friends
including, Mr.-and Mrs. G. W.
Godward, Mr. and Mrs. Milton
James and children, and Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Hoskins. Mrs. Fitch is
the former Elizabeth White.
They spent the night at Butte
Falls at the home of Mr. and
Mrs.. Harry Dalton, Mrs. Dalton

who has been ill.
Mrs. J. T. Bradley, Cottage
Grove, and two children, Mary
and Eddie, visited this week at
the home of Mrs. Bradley's
mother, Mrs. Anne Rumley.
They came after Mrs. Bradley's
ether son Lynn who has been
spending the summer with his
grandmother and his - cousin,
Bobby Lamb. They planned to
return to Cottage Grove Sun
day. Pat Hubbard is spending the
week with his uncle, J. V.
