Arrested Dudley Dan Solo mon, General Delivery, Jackson ville, was arrested by sheriff's deputies yesterday on charges of being absent without leave from the United States Navy. Solo mon, a Navy Airman-apprentice, was staying at the home of his mother, according to sheriffs of ficers. Man Injured A. L. Gardner, 27 Stewart ave., was taken to Osteopathic hospital about 10 a.m. today for treatment of a leg injury,:the hospital reported. It was said that Gardner, an employee of the M. C. Morton Logging company, Jacksonville, was hurt when a log rolled on him. . Accepts Position A. B. (Bert) Corbet, 705 South Holly st., has accepted a position as senior manager of vacation relief work for the Western Union company, and he and Mrs. Corbet planned to leave Medford today. He has been with the company for ap proximately 14 years and the work will be throughout the year in Oregon, Washington, Montana and Idaho. '. Examinations Set Girl Scouts planning to leave for camp Low Echo Sunday, Aug. 7, are to have physical examinations Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Medford clinic, it was announced today from Girl Scout headquarters. Girls are asked to take their medical cards received at the time of registration, since these cards must be presented to the camp nurse upon entering camp. Hew Ceramic Coating Has Unusual Features Chicago X'.R; Radically new and flexible ceramic coatings will soon be available to in dustrial firms as the "result of a process developed at the Illinois Institute of 'Technology. Called "solution" ceramics, the new coatings differ from the conventional ones in that they are not brittle at a few hundred degrees Fahrenheit. Officials at the Institute point ed out a number of its unusual features: 1. Application is easy and fe qires neither expenSive equip ment nor protected heating. 2. Temperatures required by the coating process is far lower than that required for porcelain enamel. 3. Thickeness of coatings can be controlled accurately. While films as thick as .01 inch can be deposited, some coatings only a few millionths of a inch thick have been made. 4. Coatings are less hard than ordinary ceramic materials. This allows sheet metals coated with solution ceramics to be stamped after coating. Obituaries ANGUS SCOUGALE Angus E. Scougale, 74, of Trail, died today in a local hos pital. The deceased was born March 13, 1880, in Windport, Illinois, had lived in southern Oregon for the past 17 years, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. He was mar ried on July 28, 1947, in Med ford, to Flora Belle Lud-vig, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Joel, Jacksonville, and Lester, Quincy, Calif.; two broth ers, King, Chico.
