Labor Delegates Hold
Committee Sessions

The 53rd convention of the
Oregon State Federation of
Labor broke into eight commit
tees yesterday afternoon to con
side the 63 resolutions introduc
ed since Monday..

Measures considered by the
committees covered a wide
range of interests. Resolution
No. 3, requesting the governor

session, a resolution (No. 59)
was introduced supporting a
sliding scale for those dele
gates with receding hairlines.
"The scale shall be: full
moon, 25 cents; Ihree-quarter
moon, 50 cents; half moon, 75
cents; quarter moon, one dol
lar; and no, moon, regular
price." the resolution read.
It was referred to the griev
ance committee.

Birch, declared that the VFW
and AFL have "much in com
mon." He said they both work
for the same basic principle, to
help their fellow man.

fighters International Union's
muscular distrophy campaign
was given by Vice-President S
P. Stevens. He also told the con
vention his union intended to
fight for arbitration and concilia
tion rights for city firemen.

prenticeship council; Walter E.
Griffin, director of apprentice
ship, U.S. department of labor;
Bill Riggs, international repre
sentative of the Pulp and
Sulphite Workers International
union, and Gertrude Sweet, vice
president of the Culinary Work
ers International union.
Monday evening nearly 300 at
tended a no host banquet in the
St. Mary's school gym. Later,
John Lusk's band and barber
shop quartets from the
SPEBSQSA played and sang for
a dance.
