Local and Grass Fire City firemen re ported no damage from a grass fire about 10:15 p.m. yesterday ft 547 Pearl st. Cause of the blaze was not listed. Firemen said no damage resulted. Mr. Forgey will speak at the church Sunday. Transferred Leland Metz lias been transferred to Oak land, Calif., by Montgomery Ward and company. He and Mrs. Metz moved Saturday from their home on Ross lane. Metz is be ing replaced here in the appli ance department by Ulric Keen er, a local store employee. Break and Entry Approxi mately S20 in petty cash was taken from the Reliable Clean ers, 610 East Main st., in a break-and-entry case last night, accord ing to city police. The thief or thieves entered the cleaners by way of a back window, police said. The theft was discovered at 8 a.m. this morning. V From Bay City Mrs. H. Travis Nixon and children, Paul, Patricia, and Elizabeth, San Francisco, are visiting with Mrs. Nixon's mother, Mrs. Fern Dow, Beebe rd., Central Point. The visitors were accompanied by another granddaughter of Mrs. Dow, Susan Dow,' also of San Francisco. They arrived Mon day and plan to be here for about two weeks. Mrs. DeBrecht is the former Miss Kay Stearns, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Stearns of Medford. Thursday, July 28. 1955 Obituary Notices JOHN WEST Funeral services for John Elisha West, 85, of Route 2, Box 404, Medford, who died Wednes day, will be held in Conger Morris chapel Saturday at 9 30 a.m. with the Rev. Maurice Tis cel of the Church of Christ of ficiating. Committal will be in Jacksonville cemetery. The deceased was born Feb. 3, 1870. in Searcy, Ark., and on Dec. 12, 1898, in Parcell, In dian Territory now Oklahoma, he was married to Sarah Fran ces Berry, who survives. He came to Ashland in 1909. and has resided in and around this vicinity ever since. He was a To Shady Cove Mr. and Mrs. Richard K. Keniston and sons, Richard, 12, James, 6, and Scott. 4 months, moved last week end from 3522 Alley lane, to Shady Cove. Keniston is a claims representative with the local social security offices and the family recently moved here from Seattle. ... Returns Home Mrs. Fern Matthews, Oakland, Calif., re turned home by bus last night after visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary Freder icks, 921 North Central ave., for the past week. Her sons, Angelo and Alan Matthews, may visit in Medford before the summer is over. Angelo is a former stu dent at Medford High school. ... At Sacred Heart Mrs. Eu gene Franklin, 1224 Stewart ave.; Paul Barber, 1805 Barnett rd., and Lee Founds, 21 months, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Founds, 847 Gilman rd., are sur gery patients at Sacred Heart hospital, attendants reported to day. To Portland Mrs. Ruby Thompson, 18 Hawthorne st., left Monday to live in the Wil lamette View manor near Mil waukie. The manor, recently completed, was sponsored by the Methodist church and is for elderly retired persons. She was accompanied north by her daughter, Mrs. August Glutsch, and her granddaughter, Miss De Maris Glutsch, who returned here Wednesday. ... Car Accidents Two car ac cidents involving a total of five vehicles, one parked, were re ported to city police yesterday. A car driven by Edith Cora Con nell, 2587 Jacksonville hwy., and a truck driven by James Eugene Smith, 310 Ashland ave., Ashland, collided at the inter section of McAndrews rd. and East Jackson st., police said. No citations were issued. Cars driv en by Leslie Theodore Dike, 728 West Jackson st., and James Albert Harrison, 440 Ross lane, collided at the intersection of Third and Ivy sts. A parked car owned by Todd Whaley, 320 Co vina Way, was damaged in the accident, police said. Police is sued a citation to Harrison for failure to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic police added. No injuries were reported in any of the accidents. HI DArnthw nzrun . . BERTHA SNYDER Funeral services for Bertha M. Snyder, 69. of Gold Hill, who died Tuesday, will be held in Conger - Morris chapel Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. H. A. Dierdorf officiating. Interment will be in Sams Valley ceme tery. The deceased was born April 16, 1886. in Jackson county. On Oct. 29, 1929, at Rogue River she was married to Fitch Sny der, who survives. Other survivors include two sons; Raymond E. and Thomas W. Wyatt, Gold Hill; three daughters; Mrs. Mildred E. Newnham, Gold Hill; Mrs. Mar guerite Biles, Rogue River, and Mrs. Evegene Burreson. DENA FAY CUTRIGHT Funeral services for Dena Fay Cutright, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cut right, who died Tuesday, were held today in Conger-Morris chapel with Mr. Joe Munshaw officiating. Interment was in Medford IOOF cemetery.
