FOUR MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Sunday. July 17. 1935 Couple Leave for California Home Miss Marion Louise Cantrall became the bride of Gary M. Strong in a double ring cere mony June 26 at the First Meth odist church. Rites were read by the Rev. J. Thomas Dixon. The couple's wedding trip was to California where they are now living. The bridegroom is stationed at Inyokern China Lake, Calif., with the Navy. The bride, a 1955 graduate of Medford Senior High school, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Cantrall, 506 South New town street. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Strong, 53 Ross court, are the parents of the bridegroom. He graduated from the Medford Sen ior High school in 1954. The bride's dress was of pink taffeta, and her corsage of white rosebuds. - Maid of honor, Miss Nancy Greaves, wore a pink and gray dress. Her flowers were a pink carnation corsage. Henry Han son, uncle of the bridegroom, served as best man. Strong (Classic studio) Mothers Meet Medford chapter of Blue Star Mothers will hold a potluck pic nic and business meeting at 12:30 p.m., July 21 in Hawthorne park near the Girl Scout hall. Mem bers are asked to invite prospec tive members. Table service is required. The department picic at the home of Mrs. Stilly Nich ols, Riddle, will be held at 1 p jn. July 27. Riddle chapter members will serve as hostesses. - , Mrs. John Day Appointed To Red Cross Area Council Announcement of the appointment of Mrs. John S. Dav to the Pacific area council of the Red Cross was received here last week from the national headquarters at Washington, D.C. The area includes the nine western states and Alaska. The appoint ment is for a period of three years. Mrs. Day receiwd her first I Lodge Women Meet For Initiation; Member Transfers training in Red Cross -work dur ing the beginning years of World War II and first qualified in 1952. She was staff aide chairman from 1942 to 1949. Since 1949 Mrs. Day has been member of the Veterans Ad ministration Volunteer services in the Medford-Roseburg coun cil. She was chairman of volun teer services for about four years and has recruited full staff for all services. More than 200 active volun teers work under her chairman ship at least one day a week, in 15 different services. Other offices held by Mrs. Day include chairman from 1951 to 1952 of the blood bank program, and vice-chairman of the chapter since 1946. She also is active In Jackson County health services, is pres ident of the Cancer society, is active in League of Women Vo ters, Republican Women's organ ization, Junior Service league and Girl Scout activities. Card Party Set; Past Chiefs To Meet Wednesday Plans for a card party to be held July 19 were discussed by Pythian culb members last week when they met at the Pythian building with Mrs. Harry Bryant and Mrs.. George Bryant as the hostesses. . v The afternoon was spent play ing cards and prizes were re ceived by Mrs. Ed Bostwick, Mrs. J. T. Conrad and Mrs. Leroy Cline. Hostesses next meeting will be Mrs. Joe Cook and Mrs. Ida Ireland. The Past Chiefs club of the Pythian Sisters will meet Wed nesday, July 20 for a covered dish luncheon at the Shady Cove home of Mrs. Delia Littlefield. Jaycettes Will View Fashions at Meeting Medford Jaycettes will meet at the home of Mrs. Bruce Cy phers, 1508 Wilson place, Wednesday, July 20, at 8 p.m. Mrs.. C. A. Shepherd and Mrs. Tom Reeder will serve as co hostesses. ' Mrs. Bert Pree, dressshop own er, is to discuss and show late summer and early fall fashions. Members will model some of the apparel. A picnic party was held re cently at the home of Mrs. Wil mer Robertson. Mrs. Ron James assisted. Games were played with white elephants as prizes. Mrs. Richard Barker was ini tiated into the auxiliary and Mrs. John Norvell transferred from Napa, Calif., to the Med ford chapter. Mrs. Norvell holds the college of regents degree.. . A social .hour followed in which the two new members were introduced to officers and co-workers. Officers from Grants Pass and Medford were installed for the ceremony held in late June. The bride is the former Miss Patricia Louise Hall, daughter of Mrs. Clara Hall, Phoenix, and Vernon E. Hall, Gilman road, Medford. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lloyd Witt, Ashland. The Rev. R. V. McArthur read the ceremony at the Nazarene church. The bride's dress was street length, white nylon, made by a friend. Miss Virginia Law son. Her flowers were of red roses and the bouquet was de signed by a cousin, Mrs: Ronnie Lowe. Vernon E. Hall, her father, gave the bride in marriage. Glen Mrs. Glen Lowe, a sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. She was dressed in green and her corsage was of white gardenias. Misses Jackie Beatty and Dar lene Skinner served as brides maids. Miss Beatty wore blue and Miss Skinner a white dress, and both had gardenia corsages. Glen Lowe was best man, and Jim Witt and Henry Wolford ush ers. The bride's mother wore a navy blue dress, mother of the bridegroom wore a powder blue suit. Their corsages were of gar denias. The couple made a three-day wedding trip to Bend. The bride groom is employed at Lithia mill in Ashland. VFW Auxiliary Delegates and Officers Named Delegates who represented the auxiliary to the Crater Lake post, Veterans of Foreign Wars to a department encampment re cently at Ocean Lake were Mrs. Hazel Ramsey,- Mrs. Ben Alli son, Mrs. Ralph Pittock, Mrs. J. D. Drummond and Mrs. Fred Lawrence. Mrs. Lawrence was a district president. Becker Bridal Couple Now Live at Seaside; To Attend College News of interest here is the wedding June 5 of Miss Barbara Lorraine Jones, daughter of Mrs. Lorraine Jones, 420 Boardman street, and Volney B. Jones, Downey, Calif., to David D. Becker, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Karl Becker, Seaside. The newly wedded couple is living for the present in Seaside. ; The bridegroom's father per formed the ceremonies, held at the Seaside Assembly of God church, June 5. Given in marriage by her un cle, Eugene Stevens, the bride wore a gown of ice-blue satin covered with lace and her -fingertip veil was held in place by a lace-trimmed coronet. She car ried a white orchid, surrounded by lilies of the valley, on a white Bible. Maid of honor was the bride groom's cousin, Miss Kathleen Peterson, and bridesmaids were the Misses Marion Sanchez and Gladys Jones. The three wore blush pink ballerina- length or gandy dresses with white acces sories and headdresses of Cecil Bruner rosebuds and lilies of the valley. They carried bouquets of pink. and white carnations. Best man was Leon Baublitz of Hilo, Hawaii. Paul Taylor and Dan Peterson served as ushers. The bride s mother wore a dress of pink lace over taffeta with white carnation corsage. Mother of the bridegroom wore a navy blue and white dress with pink and white carnation corsage. A reception following the cere- money was attended by . nearly 125 persons. The couple made a wedding trip along the Washing ton coast, and will travel to Seattle in the fall to attend col lege. The bridegroom is studying for the ministry in the Assembly of God. .The bride attended Med ford and Downey, Cali., high schools. Anniversary Observance Set Jacksonville The 75th anni versary of the founding of Adar el chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Jacksonville, will be .. ob served Saturday, July 23, at 8 p.m., at the Jacksonville High school gymnasium. Also the chapter room in the Jacksonville Masonic temple will be open to visitors that day from the hours of 1 to 4 p.m. Items of interest will be on display. To Canada Mrs. J. D. McPherson, 119 iNorth Ivy street, will leave July 20 for Lethridge and Medicine Hat, Alberta, Can., to visit brothers and sisters who live there. She plans to be away about a month.
