Durling (Distributed by Kiaf Uttwm Syndicate. Inc.) Some people continue to claim the cost of living is just as high in London and other places in Great Britain as it is here. That claim I can't go for. Why, sir, the most recent statistics reveal the average weekly wage of those engaged in British manu facturing industry is the equiv alent of $15 a week. Imagine a man in New York, Chicago, De troit and other of our major cities trying to support a wife and several children on $15 a week. Horses and Women ' - - Woman has mastery of man because he does not understand her. So says Professor Sheldon of Yale University. However, gen tlemen, be not too depressed by the good professor's statement. As you know, our horses and women experts are ever at work doing research that will aid you in understanding women. At present they are trying to under stand why women with large round faces wear small hats flat on their heads. The question seems to have them baffled. Their reports have been most vague and unsatisfactory. I may subject our horses and women department to a shakeup. I have reason to suspect that many of the men in the department spend much more time trying to under stand horses , than they do women. British husbands continue to have the matrimonial situation well in hand. Most Englishwom en don't even know how much their husband's salaries amount to. The husband gives his wife a "housekeeping allowance" and if she doesn't keep her . budget balanced life becomes very un pleasant for her.
