Predatory Neighbors "Borrow" Everything Some people have little re spect for property rights. They do not mean to be destructive, but they sometimes are. (Q) "I am a middle-aged woman and we live in a block where most of the families are much younger lhan we. Now, don't mistakle what I am say ing; I get along well with my neighbors, but I am concerned aoout some of the things they do. For example, they come to our garage and borrow our garden tools without asking permission or without leaving a not to say they have taken them. They often fail to re turn them and my husband goes from house to house un til he locates them. Sometimes they are rusty from having been left out in the rain. Yes terday, I came home to find all my ice gone from the re frigerator. As it was a hot Billy Graham Visits With Queen Juliana Amsterdam U.R) Ameri can evangelist Billy Graham en joyed an unusual Dutch treat today. He sipped coffe with Queen Juliana. Like his command service be fore Britain's Queen Elizabeth last month, Graham's audience with informal Queen Juliana was unprecedented. day, I wanted to serve iced tea for supper. My next-door neighbor came in during the evening and told me she had some unexpected company so she borrowed my ice. What can one do without incurring the ill-will of one's neighbors?" (A) Not a grea deal with such neighbors, unfortunately. How ever, a few things are certainly worth the try. First of all, keep your things in places where the neighbors cannot get at them. Couldn't your husband keep his gar den tools in the basement if he does not want to keep the garage doors locked? As for you, why not lock your doors when you go out to keep the neighbors from walking in and helping themselves to things? It may not seem very neighborly, and it is not always convenient to other family mem bers to come home to a locked house. However, if you hide a house key in some safe place outdoors where every member of the family will know where to find it, you can then lock up whenever you leave the house and thus prevent future raids.
