Alaska is still a happy hus
band hunting ground for smart
bachelorettes. In southern Alas
ka the men outnumber the
women lour to one. In northern
Alaska it is twelve to one. If a
girl can't get a husband in Alas
ka it is possible she will never
get a husband at all. There are
25,000 bachelors in Fairbanks,
Alaska. This includes civilians
and men in the United States
armed forces. Single men, eager
to acquire a spouse, are also
reported plentiful in Anchorage,
Alaska. The husband hunter who
has a knowledeg of stenography
and typewriting has a definite
advantage. She can get a position
paying from $70 to $90 a week
and take her time in looking
over the eligible bachelor situation.

First Word
How about your first baby?
At what age did the infant begin
to speak? How about the first
' word? Have just heard of a baby
who spoke for the first time at
the age of 6 months. This child's
first word was "Myxomatosis."
Sounds impossible doesn't .it?
However, not when you know
the facts. Myxomatosis is the
'name of the child's toy rabbit.

Literary Not
That brilliant! Irishman,
George Bernard Shaw, was con

many people. In reality he was
a very modest roan. Shaw was

When it was decided to place

were suggested. Finally Shaw
was asked what he would like

Mr. Warren told a large

Across town delegates to the
Communist "world peace festi

' Newsmen who shuttled back

was by far the more successful.
They reported the Red meeting
was received with complete
