BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF MEDFORD that the Charter of the City of Medford, be ing an act entitled "An act to repeal an act entitled "An act to repeal an act entitled "An act to incorporate the Town if Medford, in Jackson County Oregon, and limiting its pow ers and defining the duties of its of ficers." and to repeal an act entitled "An act to incorporate the Town of Blediord. in Jackson county, Oregon Approved February 24, 1885," filed in the office of the Secretary of State February 21, 1889." and all am endments thereof, and to incorporate the City of Medford, in Jackson County. Oregon, and to define its powers ana auues, approved Febru ary 6, 1901; "and to incorporate the City of Medford, in Jackson County. Oregon, define its powers and duties and to repeal alt acts and parts of acts in conflict herewith, "filed in the office of the Secretary of State Feb ruary 7, 1905, as amended by all oth er and subsequent amendments enact ed by the legislative assembly or by vote of the neonle. he and the nam hereby is amended by amending Sec tion 09 oi tne Charter to read as fol-' lows, to-wit: Section 85 1. The council, by ordinance, shall annually levy, in addition to special tax levies heretofore or hereazter au thorized by the legal voters, a tax for city purposes including the city library of not to exceed 15 mills on the dollar of the assessed value of taxable real and personal property within the city of Medfo.-d. and su.ii further amounts as the council shall deem necessary for the payment of interest and principal of ar.v indeoi edness of the city cf Mcdlord and as may be necMiars tc pay any judg ment against the city. For the tax year commencing July 1. 1955 the council is herebv author ized to levy taxes upon he taxable real and personal property within the city of Medford for ctiy purposes in addition to special tax levies here tofore authorized by the legal voters and, such amounts as may be neces sary for payment of interest anc piin cipal of indebtedness of the City of Medford and ucy judgment against the city, in the sum of not to exceed $88,510.00 in excess of the limitation of taxes of the City of Medford for such tax year as imposed by Section II of Article XI of the Constitution of the State of Oregon. Section 7. The ballot title for the measure provided to oe submitted to the legal voters by Ordinance No. 6206, as aforesaid, and returned to the Recorder by the City Attorney, is ad opted as is hereinafter set forth and the following is the uumber ballot title and form in which the foregoing measure will appear upon the ballots: SPECIAL ELECTION City of Vedford.
