WALL STREET
New York U.R Industrial
shares continued to push further
into the stratosphere today.
The industrial average set a
new all-time high at a level
nearly 120 points higher than a
year ago and 69 points higher
than the 1929 record. -
Railroad issues made a better
percentage raise than the indus
trials and reached their best
level since Oct. 26, 1929. Utili
ties gained a few cents.
Net gains ranged to more
than 7 points and the best per
former of the whole market was
one of the bluest of the blue
chips, Du Pont, which reached a
new high at 217. That rise alone
was a main factor in the spurt
in the industrial average.
