DURLING (Distributed by King Features Syndicate. Inc.) The scarcity of reliable baby sitters continues. It may soon be necessary for mothers to carry their infants with them at all times as the Indian squaws do. There might be an opportunity for somebody to originate a pop ular priced, smart looking pap oose carrier. Incidentally, it is said when a baby is with its mother at all times, it is very good for the infant. Babies left alone too much develop fears that can have an adverse effect on their after life. If you have an infant at your house call this to the attention of your wife. Perhaps you could give her a nice papoose carrier for a birth day present. Please Note v In my photographic collection is a snapshot of the great Balti more ringman of the yesteryear, Joe Tipman, standing by the grave of "Terrible Terry" Mc Govern in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Terry had a great ring career but much sorrow entered into his private life. His two beloved children died young. He, himself, was only 38 when he passed on. The inscription on the brilliant McGovern's tomb stone reads: "Erected by Terry and Grace McGovern in memory of their beloved daughters, Lillian C. born September 10, 1900, died January 4, 1904 and Anna Mabel McGovern born August 19, 1903, died June 28, 1904. Terry Mc Govern born March 9, 1880, died February 22, 1918. Beloved hus band of Grace McGovern." Horses and Women "How is it men can keep femi nine secretaries so long in their employ while only one woman in a thousand can keep a cook or maid more than a few months?" That's the query put to us by an executive, who saye he has had the same secretary for 21 years and that his wife has had five different maids in the past eight months. I cannot an swer this interesting question offhand. Have requested our horses and women experts to check it thoroughly. Says She "Now there is a film to be titled "The Man Who Chased Redheads'," writes a feminine subscriber. Also one titled 'The Man Who Loved Redheads. I am growing very weary of all this attention showered on red heads. It has made the straw berry blondes unbearable bores and insufferably conceited. The way they act you would think having red hair is a personal achievement instead of a matter of heredity. Redhaired women are rarely of a high order of in telligence. Consider their taste in dress. They, always wear the the wrong colors. I am glad I am a browneyed, honey blonde However, I don't take personal credit for my hair coloring and beauty. I thank my father and I thank my mother. Think it over, redheads. Give heredity a little credit." Asking Queries from clients. Q. How old is the song titled "Darktown Strutters' Ball"? A. Just about 40 years old. Was written by Shelton Brooks in 1915. Was in troduced by the original Dixie land Jazz Band. Q. Where can be found the poetic line: "If win ter comes can spring be far be hind?" A. It is from Shelley's "Ode to the West Wind." Q. -Who originated the terms "ex- trovert" and "introvert."' A. Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist. Briefly It was Louis W. Hill, presi dent of the Great Northern Rail way, who originated the slogan, "See America First." ... An amazing number of people who consider themselves well in formed can't even tell you how many United States Presidents were born west of the Missis sippi. (Copyright, 1955. United Press Correspondent Hollywood (U.R) If any body's interested, Maureen O'Hara applied today for the " jb o "ding York wearing a horse ' and four -foot long hair. Maureen is one of the more c o n s e rvative citizens of the Aline Mosby plaster city. But she surprisingly wants to play Lady Godiva in public be cause, of course, she climbed into that long wig for a motion picture, "Lady Godiva." But the stunt is Maureen's idea not Universal Interna tional Studio's. "I don't think there's enough glamour and exploitation for movies these days," she said "Except for Marilyn Monroe. Thank God for her! She was sorely needed here. No Bullring " "I've turned down a lot of stunts since I came to Holly wood," she added, "because they weren't right for me or the pic ture. "I refused to get in a 'bullring in Mexico City for the opening of 'The Magnificent Matador.' In Latin countries .women do not wear pants and get in bull rings. But a Lady Godiva is all right if handled in good taste." The Irish beauty has some ta boos for that ride on a white horse through Gotham. The pic lure opens in New York in Octo ber, a season not suited to bare back rides in the bare. "I might have to wear in sulated tights up to my nose" she laughed. "And a hot water bot tle under the saddle. Earmuffs, maybe. t ; "And I would insist that the ride be tied up to some tremen dous charity. And preferably in doors, such as at Madison Squre Garden. The wind, you know" Bikini Godiva The day the red-haired star re enacted Lady Godiva's historical nude ride through Coventry for the movie, the outdoor set at U-I was closed. "First I worse flesh-colored tights underneath the wig," she continued. "But on film I could sse the tights and my skin and it didn't look right. We did the scene over in a Bikini bathing suit." - The three-pound wig of blonde hair covered Maureen, more or less, almost to her ankles. The wind was not blowing that day Maureen's portrayal of Lady Godiva fits in with her long ca reer of starring in low-cut swashbuckling . adventure mov ies, and low-cut desert epics Reporter's Story Receives Realism Dayton, Ohio (U.R) Tony Svet, a reporter for the Day ton Journal Herald, interview ed a prospective father at the Miami Valley Hospital on a Fathers' Day assignment.
