M-tars Top San (Diego 7-4 As ESeardlen IPocEis Up Victory Br UNITED PRESS Lefty O'Doul's touch with the San Diego Padres is only ex ceeded by his hex against them. The former National League batting champion led the Pads to the Pacific Coast League cham pionship last year and then moved on to Oakland. Now he is giving the Padres fits. All-Stars Win Last night, for instance, Lefty led the Pacific Coast League All-Stars to a 7-4 win over the Pads in the annual All-Star game. The All-Stars waited until the ninth to do it, though, coming from behind with four runs. Winning pitcher, by the way, was Gene Bearden who won the second game for San Francisco Sunday while pitching with only two days rest. Mike Baxes of San Francisco walked to open the ninth frame and Gene Mauch of Los Angeles and Ted Beard of San Francisco then singled. Jim Marshall of Oakland tied the game at 4-4 with a sacrifice fly. Bobby Del Greco of Holly wood singled home Mauch and Beard and Portland's Don Eg gert tripled Del Greco in to ice the contest. Tommy Herrera vas the los ing pitcher as he and John Car michael went the distance for San Diego. The All-Stars used four pitchers among their 20 players with Bearden getting the win. Melbourne ao- peared certain to remain the site of the 1956 Olympic games and Rome and Lausanne seemed the most likely choices for the 1960 games today as the Inter national Olympic committee buckled down to business at its meeting. Decisions on the site of both games were expected to come either today or Wednesday as the committee shifted the site of its conclave to the Circle Inter allie building for secret debate. Although many leading dele gates remain dissatisfied with Melbourne's preparations for next year's games, it still seem ed certain that no action would be taken to change the site at this late date. Informed sources predicted the Melbourne sub ject would be debated but would be tabled without any action being taken. The same sources indicated that Rome and Lausanne now have the best chances among the six cities seeking the 1960 summer games. Also bidding are Detroit, Brussels, Budapest, and Tokyo. St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Squaw Valley, Calif., were said to have the best chance of land ing the 1960 winter games. Little League Baseball To Aid Polio Campaign Williamsport, Pa. U.R) Little League baseball goes to bat today for the National Polio Foundation. Admission will be charged at about 15,000 Little League games from coast-to-coast on a voluntary basis, and the entire proceeds will be turned over by the kid sluggers to the infantile paralysis March of Dimes fund. President Eisenhower saluted the half-million Little League players of 4,000 different leagues in a message to Petr McGovern, president of the Lit tle League, at his headquarters here.
