Aloysius Eugene Francis Patrick Mozier, a Texan who has strayed pretty far from home, came into port to pick up some garden seed. He'll be sailing again roon in his role of "Johnny Appleseed" of the Orient. . "Paddy" Mozier in boots and Stetson has been running his own point four program for three years. He has given away over a million packages of veg etable seed to poor Japanese, Chinese and Koreans. No telling how many veg etable gardens are thriving be cause of Mozier or how much good . will he has sown among hungry farmers on both sides of the Bamboo Curtain. 'The people over there need help and friends," Paddy said. "I'm going to keep up this pro gram until they : get back on their feet." Paddy s diplomatic endeavor is financed by contributions from service clubs. He is a mem ber of Rotary and Kiwanis him self, and makes frequent speak ing appearances. When he passes the hat, the proceeds go into packets of seed corn, peas, tur ips and the like. A retired Navy man, Paddy was born and raised near Hous ton and shuttles between the United States and Far Eastern ports as an engineering officer for the American President Lines. He still wears a broad brimmed stetson, a western jacket and trousers and black cowboy boots. "This hat," he said, rubbing the soft felt brim, "is my pass. They all know me. She died in his arms. "I made up my mind right then and there that I was going to do something for those poor people," he said. Paddy has organized 4-H clubs in Singapore, Karachi and Japan but he has a new idea up his fourbutton sleeve now. He wants to start a children's hospital in Pusan. "Those little kids need help just like their parents," he said. "The gardens I helped start are going good now so one of these days I'll be working on this new idea." ' ' - fib if" " I 2 A . (International) Oregon Grange Delegates Tackle Hells Canyon Issue Klamath Falls (U.R) The Oregon State Grange, in conven tion here, was to tackle the Hells Canyon controversy today when it considers a resolution submit ted by the Sixes Grange. The resolution, favoring con struction of a single high dam at the Hella ccanyon site with federal funds, has already been adopted by Hood River, Coos, Linn, Benton, Jefferson, Klam math, and Multnomah Pomona Granges. Maxwell Taylor on hit arrival from Hong Kong en route to the United States where he will take over as U.S. Army chief of staff.
