TWO -MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Rosette-Leonard Wedding Held at Methodist Church Miss Norma Vee Leonard became the bride of Marvin Rosette in a ceremony held Sunday, May 29, at First Methodist church. It was one of spring's largest weddings, with about 200 guests attend ing. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Leonard, 829 Minnesota avenue, and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. J. A. Ostrom. Portland. , Sunday, June S, I93S Dr. Raymond Balcomb read the double-ring rites at four o'clock in the afternoon, and Mr. Leonard gave his daughter in marriage. The reception which followed was in the church par lor. John Seines, Hood River, the bride's cousin, and Mrs. A. C. Pierce were soloists. Mrs. Gerald Sherman was organist. Mrs. Pierce sang "Because" a selec tion sung at the wedding of the bride's parents. The church was decorated with clusters of white wedding bells, white peony trees and baskets filled with white peonies. Wall baskets of white daisies were filled with stock and other white blossoms. The bride's gown was of mul tiple tiers of nylon tulle with bodice and long sleeves of lace and her veil and cap were of ny lon tulle hand-trimmed with seed pearls and irridescent se quins taken from her mother's wedding gown. She carried a bouquet of all white phalenopsis Seattle Couple Engaged to Wed Talent Mr. arid Mrs. Floyd V. Young, Talent, announce the engagement of their daughter Lucille to Charles Bent, Seattle, Wash. . ' Miss Young is a graduate reg istered nurse with bachelor of science degree from the Univer sity of Portland College of Nur sing. She received her physical therapy post-graduate training at Northwestern Medical school in Chicago, 111. Formerly on the staff of Dr. Ralph Thompsen of Medford, Miss Young is current ly staff therapist at the Seattle Orthopedic and Fracture clinic. Mr. Bent is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine academy at Kingspoint, Long Island, N. Y., and served in World War II with the rating of chief mate. He holds the inactive status of lieutenant, USMMR. He is office manager for the Frank Wedell Electronics company, Seattle. Findley' Family Motors North For Graduation Miss Jeanene Findley, daugh ter of Dr. and Mrs. Dwight Find ley, Old Stage road, will be graduated from Willamette uni versity today. She will receive a bachelor of arts degree and has a contract to teach in one of the Portland schools next fall. Miss Findley plans to attend summer school at Southern Ore gon college in Ashland. She is a member of Delta Gamma sor ority. Dr. and Mrs. Findley and their son, Jack, left Saturday for Salem to attend the graduation, to be held this afternoon. Yes terday noon Dr. Findley, also a graduate of Willamette uni versity, attended a luncheon re union of his class. The Findley's second daugh ter, Diane, a student at the Un iversity of Washington and a member of Alpha Phi sorority, will arrive home next weekend. Her wedding to N.!B.!Bender Jr., of Medford and Seattle, is set for June 25 at First Presbyterian church here. orchids and lily-of - the-valley which cascaded the full length of her skirt. The bride wore her mother's pearl necklace and matching earrings which had been a gift from the bride'i father. Miss Nancy Lambo was honor attendant and bridesmaids were Miss Martha Loiland, Portland, Miss Roila Jones, Medford, and Miss Janie Pattsner, Seattle. Their gowns of white lace over pink were trimmed with sprays of pink roses on the bodice and were worn with large pink pic ture hats and pink shoes. They carried white net baskets filled with pink roses. Mary Lee Lorish was flower girl, and Johnny Rowan was ring-bearer. Mary Lee wore a frock of white embroidered or gandy with an ornament of small rosebuds on her hair, and car ried a basket of petals. Mrs. Richard Hawkins, Med ford ,and Miss Gerilyn Rigby, Corvallis, lighted the candles. Jerry Rosette was best man for his brother and seating the guests were Gordon Ralph, Port land, Ray Schrieber, Portland, and Keith Bates, Medford. The reception hall was decor ated with pink peony trees and white bells. Decorations for the bride's table were pink roses combined with lily-of-the-valley and orchids, and pink satin leaves. For the wedding and recep tion Mrs. Leonard wore a blue lace gown with white accessor ies and a white orchid. Mrs. Kenneth Barger, Ash land, cut the wedding cake and Mrs. Jack Bailey took charge of the guest book. Mrs. Gerald Rosette, sister-in-law of the bride poured. Asisting wjth the serv ing were Miss Marjorie Sandfort, Miss Mary Vandenburg, Miss Linda Norris, Miss Lana Lambo, Miss Kathy and Miss Eddie Ap pleby, all Medford; Mrs. John Seines, Hood River and Miss Jody Boyer, Salem. The cake "knife, loaned by Mrs. W. J. War ner, is an heirloom used at doz ens of Medford weddings. Members of the families and out-of-town guests were enter tained at the Leonard home for supper following the wedding and Saturday evening the after rehearsal party was also held at the Leonard home. Thirty guests attended the after-wedding par ty, and 25 were present for the rehearsal party. ' Mr. Rosette and bis bride left after the wedding for Ft. Bel voir, Va., where the bridegroom will enter reserve officer's train ing. He was graduated this year from Oregon State college, re ceiving a degree in forestry. The bride also attended Oregon State college after graduating from Medford High school. Here for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Leonard, 829 Minnesota avenue. The Rosette-Leonard wedding was an event of last Sunday after noon, and the newlyweds are en route to Ft. Belvoir, Va., where the bridegroom will enter reserve officers' training. Service League Announces Dates Of Fall Follies Even though vacation is just beginning and summer play time is in the offing for almost everyone, members of Medford Junior Service league are start ing plans for a major fund-rais ing project. It will be the lea gue's second Follies, and al though the dates are November 2 and 3, the extensive project calls for summer planning and committee work. The Follies will again have "Lend an Ear" as the theme, since it will benefit the league's kindergarten for hard-of -hearing children, and the production will benefit the league's kinder garten for hard-of-hearing chil dren, and the production will be at the Craterian theater. Mrs. R. B. Thierolf is chair man, with Mrs. Carl Wimberly Jr. assisting. Mrs. James Keeble is the retiring president of the league, and Mrs. -Donald B. Whalin will head the group for the coming year. Miss Hart is making the trip east by car in the company of two Kappa Alpha Theta sorori ty sisters. In the fall Miss Hart will en roll at Merrill - Palmer Nursery School Education college in De troit for the fall semester and will not be in Medford again until the holiday season in De cember. Miss Mart's sister, Miss Sara Hart, also a student at Oregon State college and a Pi Beta Phi, will arrive home this week to spend the summer with her mother, Mrs. Robert Hart, Glenn Oak court. Wa!thersVis7t Gold Hill Family Gold Hill Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Hoff man, North Pacific highway, re cently, were their son-in-law and daughter, Lt. Cmdr. and Mrs. S. P. Walter, Norfolk, Va. While in the west the Wal thers also visited her sister and family, Dr. and Mrs. George Holliday, Roseburg. They left last week for Min neapolis and Milwaukee, Wise, where Mrs. Walther will be in charge of a pharmacy for several weeks while her husband at tends to other business. Later they will move to San Antonio, Tex. Commander Wal ther, who has been on active duty with the Naval reserve, will enter business there. Houghton Family On Mid-West Trip Mr. and, Mrs. Dwight L. Houghton, 512 Dakota avenue, left yesterday by car for St. Louis, Mo., to vsit their daugh ter, Harriett. The Houghtons were accompanied by their younger daughter, Marcia, and son, David Houghton. Miss Harriett Houghton is to be graduated from Washington university June 8, and from Cen tral Institute for the Deaf June 10. She will return to the schools in the fall to teach and to work towards a master's degree. The Houghtons will make the return trip by way of Illinois and the northern route. Women Golfers Meet at Club The monthly luncheon and business meeting of the Women's Golf association was held last Thursday at Rogue Valley Coun try club. Mrs. W. W. Davies explained to the group the new ruling per taining to the USGA handicaps. Beginner golfers will now have a 42 handicap, instead of a 35, which has been used in the past. This will enable new golfers to be more competitive in handicap golf tournaments. . Approximately 40 junior girls are attending the Saturday morn ing lessons for beginner golfers Mrs. Davies is junior golf chair man. June 6 awi 7, the Southern Oregon Junior golf tournament will be held at the Rogue Valley Country club. Women golfers volunteered to do the scoring during the tournament. Regular lady's day play for June 9 will be fewest putts. Doctor, Family Attend Graduation In Salem Today Camp White Dr. and Mrs, E. G. Muhs of Camp White are in Salem today to attend grad uation ceremonies at Willamette university. Their daughter, Miss Phyllis Muhs, is a member of the 1955 class and will receive a bachelor of music degree. Miss Muhs is , a member of Mu Phi Epsilon honorary music sorority, has played in the band and orchestra and sung with the choir, and this past year has been a senior scholar in music theory, assisting with instruc tion of classes in this capacity. She plays the piano, violin and organ, ner social sorority is Chi Omega. The Muhs were accompanied by their son, Emil Muhs Jr., who was graduated from Medford High school Thursday. He is a member of Torch Honor society, has been on the debate squad, and was awarded an Elk Lumber company scholarship. He will enter Willamette university next fall. Stephens of Ashland was elected president of the Rogue River College Women's club at a recent meet ing held in Ashland, it was an nounced last week. The club members will meet again Sat urday, June 11 at 2 p.m., in the home of Mrs. I. D. Canfield. Mrs. Virgil Bolton will be the social chairman and Mrs. Nick DeWitt will furnish a book review. Home Among students returning home for summer vacation is Jerry Bross, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bross, 1626 Kings high way. He has been studying at Brigham Young university at Provo, Utah. Holdridge-Eddy Rites Announced Talent Mrs. Inez Eddy of Albany, Ore., and Wayne Hold ridge, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Holdridge, Talent, were mar ried May 28 at the home of Mrs. Iree Ralmond,. in Albany. Rel atives of the couple attended. After a brief trip to the coast they are living in Portland whene both are employed. Before they left for the north they visited at the Holdridge home in Talent and the F. E. Monroe home in Medford. Mrs. Monroe is a sister of the bride groom. ANNOUNCESMEETING St. Mark's auxiliary guild will meet Friday, June 10, for a 12:30 p.m., .luncheon. Mrs. L. D. White ford, Miss Lillian Whiteford and Mrs. C. J. Walker will make up the serving committee. Family Leaves For Trip Abroad Mn. John McCabe with her daughter, Sylvia, and son, Ste phen, left today to spend the summer traveling in Europe. Miss McCabe just completed her sophomore year at Seattle uni versity, and Stephen McCabe is a member of the 1955 graduating class of Santa Clara university, California. The three went from here to Sacramento, Calif., for the trip east and will sail June 10 on the Andrea Doria for Naples, Italy. They plan to travel in Switzer land, Austria, Germany, France and Spain, and will attend the Salzburg Music festival. Later in the summer they will meet Robert Norris, Medford, who is also traveling in Europe this summer. The group will return on the British-Orient liner, Orcates, traveling by way of Trinidad and Panama and disembarking at San Francisco. Muslcale Planned Monday Evening A group of piano students of Mrs. Robert Ward Bebb will be presented in a June musicale Monday, June 6 at 8 p.m., in her studio at 528 South Grape street Parents and interested friends of the students are invited.
