SIX MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Dresses With Paris Labels Costly in Both Br BARBARA MILLER United Press Correspondent Paris (U.R) Art lovers can have their Mona Lisa: What most American women want from Paris is a dress with a Paris label. Even when prices range up to $2000, which is what Christian Dior charges for a "prestige" gown, and even when shopping and fittings take up time that might have been meant for sightseeing. Buying a frock in a fashion salon such as Christian Dior's can deal as seriojs a blow to a vacation schedule as it does to a bank account. At Chez Dior, creations start at about S200 and go up to S2000. But before a customer even thinks about buying she settles down for a showing of Dior's collection, which takes most of an afternoon. Keeps Score Black gowned saleswomen hand out cards and pencils so the shoppers can put down the num bers of dresses she likes. After a fashionable 20-minute delay, the show starts. Salesgirls call out numbers and names in charming accents. Stone - faced Dior models, chic and aloof, whip by in suits and coats, furs and hats, and dresses for all hours. After a couple of hours, the dazzled customer can try on the dresses she is interested in or see them again on a model. When she chooses one she signs an order slip, decides on the color, has her measurements taken and sets up an appoint ment schedule for fittings. Slight Delay She is told she has to wait 15 days for her dress. Even with 4 workrooms going full blast, Dior cannot turn out a dress in less than 15 days. Fittings are serious affairs. 608 East Main EAST SIDE Shop the Easy Way -Free Delivery Open a Charge Account Park FREE at Union Oil Get the Best and Northern Stamps Too!
