Swin gle, route 2, Central Point, is hospitalized at Sacred Heart hos pital because of a broken arm, it was reported this morning. Mrs. Swingle tripped over a wire on the back porch of her home and fell, breaking the arm, the hospital staff reported. Gloria Jean Igo, 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Igo, 1390 Dixie lane, is in the same hos pital for tonsillectomy. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Miller, 3210 North Pacific highway, are participating in a special joint air-ground operation at Kaneo he Bay, T. H. Baker is with the 1st battalion and Miller is with the 3rd battalion. The operation i.e to indoctrinate the troops in an actual airlift operation in the Hawaiian islands. ADVANCED Arnold J. Lockwood, 2695 Merriman rd., was advanced to Navy radarman seaman May 1 while serving on the minesweep er, USS'Inflict. Before entering the Navy in April, 1954, he at tended Medford High school and was employed by the Rogue River Orchard company. ON-SHIP Donald L. Casebolt. a Navy chief radioman, son of Mrs. Ira D. Casebolt, 738 West 11th st., is serving on the attack cargo ship, USS Skagit. The ship, a veteran of th Indo-China evacua tion, is participating in amphi bious operational training exer cises in the Far Eastern area. AT NAVY AIR STATION Kenneth L. Warner, a Navy aviation ordinanceman third class, son of Mr,, and Mrs. H. R. Johnson, route 1, box 143, Cen tral Point, arrived May 2 at North Island Navy Air Station at San Diego, Calif. He was on the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge which has compleied an eight month tour with the 7th fleet in the Western Pacific. Pvt. Gene E. Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Fisher, 503 Clark st., arrive Sunday for a week's stay with his parents. He has just completed an infantry re fresher training course at Ft. Ord, Calif. He will go from here to Ft. Eustis. The deceased was born Feb. 25, 1899, at Ottumwa, la., and had lived in southern Oregon for nine years. He was a veteran of - World War I, serving from Dec. 16, 1916, to Dec. 19, 1920, as a corporal in Battery "A", 21st Field Artillery, and as a sergeant in Battery 'C", 21st Field Artillery. On Dec. 24, 1929, in Chicago, he was married to Gertrude V. Campbell, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Richard M., Medford; two daugh ters, Mrs. L. L. Kennedy, Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. Eugene Albert- son, Garden Grove, Calif.; .two brothers, Elmer, Long Beach, Calif.; and Carl, Ottumwa, la.; three sisters, Mrs. H. G. HENRY 'JACK' STIMSON Funeral services for Henry Long 'Jack' Stimson, 49, of 704 Palm st., who died in a local hospital Sunday; will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Chapel Mortuary, with the Rev. J. A. Marquam of the Grants Pass Bethany Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial cemetery at Grants Pass. BLM Foresters Attend Measurement School Eighteen foresters from the Medford office of the Bureau of Land Management today com pleted a school , on timber measurement at Trail . Creek Lumber company saw mill on the west fork of Trail creek. The school, which began last March when 36 trees of five spe cies were selected and num bered, was to help make as ac curate as possible the deter mination of log grades and esti mates of board feet of standing timber.
