Club Place Plans Mat Project Ten thousand place mats illus trated by an animated map of the Rogue River valley and pub licizing the recreational, business and industrial resources of the county, particularly Medford, will be printed and distributed by Medford Altrusa club. The project is being undertaken by the club as its contribution towards building up the trade area and intersting tourists in spending time and money in southern Oregon, it is stated. This annual project, unique in the valley, was started here last year by the club following its adoption by International. Throughout the year, these at tractive place mats not only were used in notels, motels and res taurants where the tourists and interested future business and residence prospects could see them and take them along to give to their friends, but were also given to churches, Granges, clubs, conventions and commun ity halls to be used at their meetings. With the contmued coopera tion of business men who worked with the club last year, the com mittee in charge, Mrs. Frances Grant, Mrs. Edith Baker, Miss Grace Smith, Mrs. Judy Stoll and Mrs. Esther Mohr, are plan ning a more attractive mat in blue and white on special paper which will be ready for distribu tion the first part of June. Any profits from the Altrusa place mat project will be used for grants in aid to Latin Amer ican women for advanced study in this country, thus fostering friendship between countries, and for vocational aid grants to needy older women through the founders' fund. Business firms will be contact ed and given an opportunity to share in this project. Be anaStBiMB p LAV i n c a f I x with thi Sun-Burst Dial Styled with a rich, dimensional effect. Miss Whitesel, giving ammuni tion to all husbands who com plain about their wives' cloth ing bills, said that modern meth ods of travel and today's small homes mean a woman needn't own several garments when one will do the trick. And, she added people live such busy lives that they don't have time to devote proper care to large wardrobes. Miss Whitesel advised women to plan a "capsule wardrobe, containing the fewest garments necessary for continual wear and minus any "white ele phants. For such a wardrobe, good choices are basic garments of a casual type in classic lines, Miss Whitesel said.
