Saturday Wrestling Program Promises To Be Laden With Explosive Fireworks Enough fireworks should be provided in the three matches set for tomorrow night's wrest ling card at Merrick's arena to last the average fan a long time, Promoter Mack Lillard said to day. A double main event, each to be an hour long with one fall deciding, will bring two of the vorld's top mat artists here for their southern Oregon debuts. They are Lord Leslie Carlton and Gene "The Body" Stanlee.J Golden Lion Tricky Carlton, known as the Golden Lion of the mat, has a wide variety of tricks, both legal and otherwise, which he uses on op ponents. (International) Ashland Hardtops Run on Saturday Ashland Hardtop auto racing at the Ashland speedway has shifted to Saturday night with a program set for tomorrow eve ning. Entries this week will be from Grants Pass, Ashland and Med ford and possibly from Yrekai Calif. Throttle-happy drivers will be out to beat Wally Cannon, vic tor in last main event. Local club members have turned in many hours of labor during the past two weeks to im prove the track. Several hundred gallons of oil have been spread and officials hope for a dust free night for spectators as well as drivers. Several new cars are expected to be taking test drives in their process of being built up. Previous races have been held on Sunday this season. In an nouncing the new day, track ofr ficials stated that the hardtop runs will be on Saturday nights through the rest of the summer season. " Clarence (Skinny) Davidson, trainer of Johnson, was in the witness chair when the three man commission called a halt for the weekend Thursday. Ques tioning of the portly Davidson will resume when the investiga tion picks up again next week. Johnson Warned v The commission warned light heavyweight contender Johnson, Davidson and four other respon dents not to discuss the case with anyone during the recess. "Get in touch with the com mission immediately if anyone attempts to talk to you," they were warned. Davidson underwent exami nation by deputy state Atty. Gen. Herbert Levin after Johnson closed two days of testimony with statements that no bribe offer was made to him to lose the nationally-televised bout of May 6 and no one suggested to him that he lose. Johnson collapsed shortly after the end of the second round of the bout with Mederos, losing on a technical knockout. A commission physician testified Johnson's system showed traces of a sleep-inducing drug. Guild Officials Called To Stand New York U.R) Fight Man ager Bill Daly, treasurer of the International Boxing guild, was expected to be the star witness today at the final fact-finding session of the New York State Athletic Commission's inquiry into the fight game. Chairman Julius Helf and an grily ordered Daly to appear as a witness at today's session or to be classified as "one who re fused to testify" and be subject to penalties. At Thursday's ses sion Daly asked for two weeks adjournment in order to permit a newly hired attorney to study the situation.. Caustic Order Tex Pelte, Daly's managerial associate, made a similar request and received a similar caustic order to testify today. Daly and Pelte are key men in the case involving welter weight Vince Martinez of Pater son, N.J., who the commission implies has been "grounded" by the powerful International guild. Netmen To Mix On College Court Ashland Independent net activity in the valley will be launched Sunday when the Rdgue Valley Tennis club plays host to the Redding, Calif,, ag gregation at the Southern Ore gon college courts here.
