Mother Visiting Mrs. Robert Baber, Huntington Park, Calif., is visiting here with her daugh ters, Mrs. Roy McLaughlin, and Mrs. Eva Mae White, 27 Myrtle st. She arrived in mid-April and plans to be here for an extended visit. Cemetery Cleanup A com munity meeting is planned at the Antelope cemetery for May 21 at 10 a.m., for the purpose of clean ing up and fencing the cemetery. Those attending should take tools for the work, and potluck lunch will be served at the A. Wattenburgs at 12 noon. Home From School Joe Mur ray Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Taylor, Ashland, has re turned to the valley from Jack son, Miss., where he has been attending college. He visited on Wednesday in Medford with Mrs. Eve Prentice, his former accordion teacher. Young Tay lor is majoring in music with his accordion and next year plans to attend a college at Hou ston, Tex., where he will receive instruction of Bill Palmer, a friend of the Prentices. Visiting Mrs. Kenneth Bak and daughter, Carol Sue, San Francisco, arrived last Friday to visit her son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hale, 521 Merriman rd., and her son, Ted Braun, 1004 Queen Anne ave. She will remain here until after graduation exercises at Medford Senior high school when Ted Braun will be gradua ted. Plan Entertainment Enter tainment has been planned for the flower show and sale which Eagle Point Garden club will hold Sunday, May 22, from 2 to 9 p.m. in Eagle Point Grange hall. Providing the program will be pupils ' from Coleen Hope's Dance studio and accordion pu; pils of Mrs. Eve Prentice who live in the Eagle Point area. It will be presented at 4 p.m. The show is open to the public. Return Here Mr. and Mrs. L. J. (Bill) Cox recently arrived from Eugene and have purchased the Reliable Cleaners on East Main st. The Coxes left Medford about four years ago and f ormer ly operated the same cleaning establishment. They purchased the business from Mr. and Mrs. Larry Neeley, to whom they had sold it when they left here. The Neeleys will continue to operate the Northern Stamps store in the cleaner shop for the present. The Coxes are living at 515 West Jackson st. Annual Luncheon Election of officers and presentation of pins to retiring teachers are on the program for the annual meeting of Jackson county unit, Oregon Education association, to 12:30 p.m. at Rogue Valley be held Saturday, May 21, at Country club. Mrs. Ivah Murray, Medford, will present the pins. Reservations may be made at the office of. the county school su perintendent by Friday, and ticket sales are in charge of Mrs. Orva Taylor, Phoenix, president of the Classroom Teachers' association. THE CORNER STORE Main and Central Medford, Oregon Josephine Veills Passes; Funeral Will Be Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Butterfield Weills, 69, who died Thursday will be held in Conger-Morris chapel Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. George R. V. Bolster of St. Mark's Episcopal church offici ating. Committal will be in the family plot in Norfolk, Neb. Friends who wjsh, in lieu of flowers, may make a contribu tion to the Sparrow Memorial Fund. The deceased was born Oct. 1, 1885, in Medison, Wis., and had lived in Medford since 1919, coming from Nebraska. She at tended Dana Hall in Boston, and graduated from Wellesley Col lege in 1909. She was a past president and an active member of the Jackson County Public Health Association. She was also active in the Colony Club. Dur ing recent years she was associ ated with the Medford Commu nity hospital. On April 10, 1910, in Redlands, Calif., she was married to John C. S. Weills, who survives. . Other survivors include a son, John C. S. Weills, Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. P. H. Salter, Norfolk, Neb.; and six grand children. Another son, First Lt. Spencer B. Weills, was shot down over Japan during the Second World War when flying with the U. S. Marines. Conger Morris funeral home was in charge of arrangements here. The child was born in Yreka on July 15, 1952. Survivors include his parents, James O. and Nonnah Silva, a brother Frank; and his grand mother, Mrs. James Thomas, Yreka. Hip Fractu.re Mrs. C. A Meyers, 315 South Orange st., is confined to Community hospital because of a hip fracture which she suffered Wednesday about noon when she fell on a side walk, according to a report of the accident. She is the widow of the former county assessor. At Community Mrs. Hazel E. Dutcher, 1104 West Fourth st., and Dewey Paul Patten, 1884 Delta Waters rd.. four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Pat ten, are listed today at Commu nity hospital as surgery pa tients. Mrs.. George Chubb, Shady Cove, is a medical patient there. Swingin' Bees Dance The Swingin Bees square dance group will continue their series of dances in Medford Saturday, with a session at 50 North River side ave. from 8:30 p.m. to mid night. Minnie Robertson will call, and all square dancers are welcome. Refreshments will be potluck style. CAP Work Day - All mem bers of the Medford Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol are re minded that Saturday, May 21, is work day at the CAP build ing at the Medford Airport. All members were urged to help out so that the building and dis plays will be ready for the Armed Forces Day celebration on May 22. Elks Initiate Two candi dates of the Elks lodge, Dr. Merle E. Foland and Herbert J. Thomp son, will be initiated into the lodge at ceremonies which will begin today at 8 p.m., in the Elks club. All members are in vited. A lunch will be served after the meeting, and a picture, "An American Journey," will be shown. Aubrey Sander, exalted ruler, made the announcement. Nickel, a silvery . white met al, ranks 24th in abundance with the other elements of the earth's crust. PAUL HACKETT Funeral services for Paul S. Hackett, 57, of Central Point, formerly of Phoenix, who died Tuesday at Mount Shasta, California, will be held in Conger-Morris chapel Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. E. Paul Riedel, of the Grace Lutheran church, Ashland, officiating. Committal will be in Memory Gardens Memorial park. The family requests that friends contribute a memorial wreath to the building fund of Grace Lutheran church, Ashland of which the deceased was a member. Arthur Grischkowsky Ashland, has been designated as trustee of the Memorial Wreath. The deceased was born May 9, 1898, in Richland, Mo., and had lived in southern Oregon since 1939. In 1917 in Caldwell, Ida., he was married to Ida Blind, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Chester, Coos Bay; three daugh ters, Mrs. Pauline Edwards, La Grande, Ore.; Mrs. Dorothy Har vey, Bend, Ore.; and Mrs. Esth er Mentzer, Pueblo, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Simmons and Mrs. Georgia Wooliver, Kansas City; and Mrs. Ida Parks, Phoe nix, Ariz.; a brother, Harley, of Kansas City; and 13 grandchildren. Riles Monday for Valley Pioneer Pauline Wait Elmore, 88, a Jackson county resident for the past 65 years, died here today. Graveside funeral services will be held at Jacksonville IOOF cemetery Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. D. D. Randall of ficiating. Perl funeral home is in charge of funeral arrange ments. Mrs. Elmore was born in Wait Station, Sciota county, Ohio, on Jan. 16, 1887, and came to Jack son , county in 1889. She was married to C. H. Elmore at Ne ligh, Neb., in 1884. He died in 1908 The deceased was a daughter of D. and Mrs. J. B. Wait. He was a pioneer physician and surgeon in Medford. Mrs. El more was a member of the Methodist church at Jackson ville and Yoncalla. Survivors include a son, Her bert, Applegate; three daughters, Grace Elmore, Medford; Dorothy Creson, Vale, Ore., and Jennie Hill, Santa Ana, Calif.; two nieces, Mrs. Helen Dixon and Mrs. Virginia Wait, both of Med ford; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. AIR SERVICE PLANNED Cologne, Germany (U.R) West Germany's Lufthansa Air line, which inaugurated its Eur opean service this week and will fly to New York next month, 'is planning services to South Am erica and the Middle East in 1956, it was announced today. DOROTHY COFER Graveside services will be held at Medford IOOF cemetery Saturday at 11 a. ml for Dorothy Vivian Cofer, 78, of North Bend, who died there Wednesday. The Rev. William C. The deceased was born at Grays Creek, Ore., on Feb. 15, 1877, and had resided at North Bend for the last seven years. -Survivors include her hus band, E.
