TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Tuesday, May 10, 19S5 Friendship Night Observed Here By Rebekah Lodge About 175 Rebekahs attended the friendshiu night program given by Olive Rebekah lodge last week in Medford IOOF hall. Mrs. Frank Chapman, noble grand of the Medford lodge, pre sided. All lodges in the district were respresented. Each noble grand of the visit ing lodges presented Mrs. Chap man a gift from her lodge to Olive Rebekah lodge, and each received a gift from the Medford lodge. Mrs Clara Frankin, Mrs. James Fleming and Mrs. Rozella Theesfeld made the presenta tions. Each lodge presented a skit, with the local lodge last on the program. T. N. Graten sang The Lord's Prayer, with Mrs. Eva Marsh as accompanist. Mrs. Lewis Thompson was narrator. Others taking part were Mrs. J. D. Brummond, vice-grand, and Mesdames Lee Garrett, Homer Vinzant, Riley Applegate, Clara Franklin, Edward McGinty, O. S. Walden, Marie Small, J. A. Thomassen, W. E. Robinson and Frank Chapman. Mrs. Irene Remmie, Ocean Lake Rebekah lodge, was a visi tor and Mrs. Nina Chandler be came a member of the lodge by transfer. The lodge will hold a district convention in Gold Hill June 15, and the state president will pay her official visit to Olive Re bekah lodge June 16. Mrs. Floyd Murray, president of Olive Rebekah Past Noble Grands' club, announced a cov ered dish supper at Girls Com munity club May 12. The refreshment committee for Friendship night . was Mrs. Charles Swingle, Mrs. Jennie Hensler, Mrs. Zelma Heater, Mrs. Riley Applegate and Mrs. Sara F, Hayes. Medford Bethel Has Guest Night Medford Bethel No. 14 of Job's Daughters observed friend ship night last Wednesday, and members of all southern Oregon bethels were Invited to attend. The session was held in Medford Masonic temple. Honored visitorr were Queen Melva Chew, Central Point; Queen Sheila Spence of the new Medford bethel; Miss Barbara Roach, past queen of Bethel 14; Miss Belva Chew, past queen of the Central Pomt bethel; Sen ior Princess Anita Conger, Cen tral Point; Junior Princess Vicki Noel, Central foint and Junior Princess Judy Lobdell of the new Medford bethel. Guardians and associate guard ians present Included 'Mrs. Richard Stratton and Victor Noel, Central Point, and Lem Manning, Medford. During the evening the Cen tral Point drill team gave the novelty number entitled "Wor mando's Hideway" which was presented for the recent state convention. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. E. R. Ross, Mrs. Walter Garner, Mrs. J. H. Creag er, Mrs. Claude Hoover, Mrs. Harold Snodgrass, Mrs. Newhall, Mrs. M. O. Annual May Party Of Evening Guild To Be Wednesday One of the large social events of this week will be the annual May card party of St. Mark's Evening guild, set for tomorrow night at the church. The chair man, Mrs. Warren Lesseg, states that a few reservations are still available, and they may be made my calling Mrs. Eddie Sim mons. 2-5035, or Mrs. Robert Morris, 2-6873. Dessert will be served at 7 p. m., with bridge and canasta following. . Tables for couples will be arranged in the Parish hall, and women players will be in the Guild hall. This annual event is always marked by unusual decorations and favors, and this year the theme is "genius at work." Mrs. E G. Miles is decorations chairman. Roxy Gardeners To Hold Meeting Roxy Gardeners will meet Wednesday, May 11 at the home of Mrs. Clark Ballard, 819 Brookdale road. Mrs. Hugh Huntley and Mrs. F. W. Fogel quist will assist Mrs. Ballard. Members are to be prepared with ideas for summer projects to be discussed, and Roll call an swers will be suggestions for club meeting improvements. To Initiate Women of the Moose will give initiation ceremonies for new members at a meeting Wednes day, May 11, at 8 p.m., in the Moose hall, 11 Newtown street. Mrs. Harvey Wyatt, hospital committee chairman, will be in charge of the entertainment and also refreshments, which will be served following the meeting. Plans Announced For Box Social A box social will be held by the Disabled American Veterans' auxiliary, Jackson County unit, tonight in the DAV hall. 1515 North Riverside avenue. A busi ness meeting at 8 p.m. will be followed by the social at 9:10 p.m. Mrs. Ivan Hatfield was host ess for a meeting of the auxil iary sewing club May 5. A pot luck dinner was served at noon and the afternoon was spent sewing on auxiliary articles. Next meeting of the club will be at the home of Mrs. J. P. Gra ham, 175 Jeanette street, Thurs day, May 19, at 11 a.m. Mrs. Bert Hickman is sewing club chairman. ' Plan Party Mistletoe club will give a pub lic card party at Girls' Com munity club Wednesday, May 11, at 12:30 p.m. - There are 22,380 professional teachers in Minnesota. Girls' Groups of Crater High School Hold Annual Tea; Officers Installed Central Point The annual mothers' tea and style show was given last Friday afternoon at Crater High school by girls of the school. During the afternoon installation of officers was held by Girls' league and Future Homemakers of America. Officers installed for the league for the coming year are Miss Donna Eskew," president; Miss Beverly Norris, vice-president; Miss Billie Conner, secre tary; Miss Jean Estramado, treasurer; Miss Judy Davis, his torian; Miss Sharon Lilly, pub licity chairman; Miss Carol Rus sell, senior representative; Miss Colleen Snook, junior, represen tative; Miss Joyce Hobbs, sop homore representative. Officers were elected recently. Miss Janet Anderson and Miss Sara Turner. Entertainment included a tan dance bv Miss Penwell. a song by GuilrWmo Dominguex and a number by -the boys' quartet, Leon Branson, Jack Lilly, Gary Smith and Lary Smith. Music numbers were also presented by a group composed of Misses Alice Cane, Marilyn Clearwater, Pat Medley, Nadra Moore, Judi Parish, Marilyn Paull, Jane Spradling, Juanita Swindler and Sandre Sherman.
