Stanley Kalapus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kalapus Sr. of 2156 Hillcrest road, Medford, has been pledged by Chi Psi. He is a freshman pre-medical student. Curt Holzgang, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Holzgang, 626 Park avenue, Medford, has been pledged by Theta Chi. He is a freshman pre-medical student. HEADS BAPTISTS Pendleton (U.R) The Rev. Evening. Guild's Annual May Party To Be Next Week St Mark's Evening Guild will hold the annual benefit card party Wednesday, May 11 at 7 o'clock. Desert will be served promptly, followed by bridge or canasta as desired. Tables are set for women in the Guild hall and in the Parish hall for couples only. Prizes will be awarded separtely to players in both halls. Mrs. 'Warren Lesseg is gen eral chairman for the affair. Helping her are Mrs. L. G. J. Lock wood, serving. The theme this year for the card party is "Genius at Work," and it is reported that favors and decorations are both surprising and colorful. Werner will direct the orchestra of the Philharmon ic Society of Southern Oregon in a concert tonight at Medford Sen ior High school auditorium. The program, which will feature George Peckham of Seattle as bass soloist, will begin at 8:15 p.m. and tickets will be on sale at the door. The public is invited to attend. Mr. Peckham, who lived in Medford as a boy and young man, has scores of friends in the valley. On Family Night , The YMCA family night pro gram on Friday, May 6, will begin with a movie, "Three Cheers For Chubby," produced by the Metropolitan Life In surance company. Wednesday, the women's health class was shown the picture, which deals with the health problem of be ing overweight, and it is being reshown by request. The film will be shown starting ot 7:30 p.m. The remainder of the program will center-around play in the gym, and dancing is planned for those interested. Week's Sewing Buy fcSrtjiwf-T sizes , try IffAriawlfltflSH Penny-Saver Quilt Graduate Nurses Do Field Work With Department Two graduate nurses, one a faculty member of the Univer sity of Oregon Medical school, nursing division, in Portland, are spending several weeks in Jackson county observing and doing field work with the Jack son County Public Health de partment. In addition, a third medical school faculty member will spend tomorrow here. Miss Eva Davis of the medical school is spending three months in the county in preparation for recommending changes in the curriculum of the nursing school. After the curriculum changes, the school's graduate nurses will be accredited to take public health nursing positions without the additional year of training required in the past. The change in accreditation will become effective in 1956, it it stated. Miss Davis is a trained public health nurso, and her work with the local department is considered in the nature of a refresher course. Miss Eleanor Palmquist, direc tor of the division of public health nursing on the University of Oregon Medical school facul ty, will spend Friday here ob serving and conferring with de partment members. Mounted Troop Plans Play Day Ladies Mounted troop an nounces plans for a play day to be held Sunday, May 15, at the Posse grounds. The play day will begin with "a potluck din ner at 12 o'clock, and those at tending are asked to take a covered dish for the meal and table service. Events scheduled include the trail horse calss, trailer 'class, musical chairs! potato race, stake race, matched pairs, scurry race, baton race, broom polo, balloon race, boot race and pleasure class. ; Trophies and ribbons will be awarded, and all riders are wel come to attend.
