Roadeo Plans Told by Jaycees; Six High Schools To Take Part Plans for the annual teenage drivers' "Roadeo" were an nounced here last week by the Medford Junior Chamber of Commerce, which has sponsored the driver-education and safety events for the past several years. The local contests, which will be conducted for Medford, Cra ter, St. Mary's, Phoenix, Eagle Point and Jacksonville high schools, will be held on three Saturdays, April 23, April 30 and May 7, with the finals on the latter date, to be followed by a banquet. Chance To Prove Skill "By emphasizing the iules of the road and the skills needel for safe driving, we intend to give local young people a chance to prove that some of America's best drivers are teenagers," Bowers said. All teeneagers In the compet ing schools who hold a current Lnd valid driver's license are eligible. Each school will hav? examinations in their own areas, and the winners will meet for the finals May 7 at the Medford High school. Entry blanks and information about the contest are available at the schools. The Jaycees expressed their desire for an even larger con test tnan usual this year, and urged all parents of eligible teenagers to encourage their sons or daughters to participate Films Scheduled At CAP Meeting At the Monday night meeting of the Medford squadron of the Civil Air patrol, a series of films will be shown, "Air Force Digest," and "Aerology," Parts I and II. They deal with thunder clouds and should be of particu lar interest to the metorology class. Anyone interested in seeing the films or in joining the CAP is invited to attend any Monday night meeting at the Medford airport. The meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. After the showing of the films all CAP members, cadets and senior members, will do some clean-up work, so all are urged to wear their work clothes. Published by The Mail Tribune in Cooperation with Medford Retail Merchants VA Teams Named To Conduct Survey On Wages in Area Camp White A maintenance and food service workers wage survey in this area will be started this week to establish wage rates for similar positions in the Vet erans Administration. The VA and other government agencies are required by law. to establish wage schedules for .custodial, protective, and crafts positions before September, 1955, based upon these comparative studies. H. J. Heitkemper, personnel officer of the Domiciliary, here, has been detailed to assist in the collection of wage data through out the various sections of the country for the VA. He returned to Camp White last week to make preliminary arrangements for conducting the wage survey in this area. Teams Named Manager E. K. Ricker has ap pointed three survey teams made up of R. H. Denning, assistant manager, Jack Duane, assistant engineer officer, Miss Charlotte Klock, head dietitian, Robert Findley, chief electrician, Rich ard Shultz, garage superintend ent, and Mrs. Ouida Miller, as sistant head waitress. Local business firms will be contacted by. the survey teams, and their cooperation is solicited. The data concerning the level of rates being paid by both in dustrial and non-industrial firms in the local labor market for jobs will be evaluated on the basis of comparison with key jobs. Garman, 30, route 1, box 165, was arraigned in. district court Saturday on a charge of uttering and publishing a false instrument.
