Central Point Couple Weds
In Easter Sunday Ceremony

Leon Guss, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Guss, also of Central
Point. '
The Rev. William Piper per
formed the double ring cere
money at First Christian Church
in Medford. About 100 guests
attended. '
The wedding background was
formed of traditional Easter
lilies with bouquets of spirea,
quince and forsythia.
Mrs. James A. Williams si
tended the bride and Irvan Guss
was best man for his brother.
' Candle lighters were Miss June
Atkins, and Miss Sandra Guss,
a cousin of the bridegroom.
Ronald " Atkins, brother-in-law ,
of the bridegroom, Glen Hedg
peth and Wilbur Lull were the
ushers.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a gown of
net over taffeta and carried a
white orchid on a white Bible.
Mrs. Williams was dressed in a
blue lace g9wn over taffeta and
her flowers were a bouquet of
pink carnations.
Mrs. Ralph Matlack furnished
the wedding songs.
At the reception Mrs. Ronald
Atkins had charge of the gifts
and Miss Sanna Craig registered
the guests. Spring flowers dec
orated the rooms. '
For her daughter's , wedding
Mrs. Harris wore a. grey suit
with white accessories and the
bridegroom's mother wore a
blue suit with white accessories.
Both had pink carnation cor
sages. :
The couple ' made their wed
ding trip to California. They will
live in Medford.
The bride attended Crater
High school and' was employed
as assistant librarian at the
school. The bridegroom is em
ployed at Elk Lumber company.

of the bride's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Beer, 524 Plum street.
The couple made their wedding
trip to San Francisco.
The bridegroom is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. George Jenkins of
Red Bluff, Calif.
The Rev. Raymond Hum of
the Medford Church of the Naz
arene performed the double ring
ceremony.
For her wedding the bride
wore a charcoal grey suit with
lavender accessories.
A reception was held at the
residence after the ceremony.
The bride attended Medford
Senior High school. The bride
groom, who lived here t 114V
Tripp street, is a meat cutter for
Safeway stores.
Tin has been , found in all
nine states of the Federation of
Malaya, the world's largest pro
ducer of the metal.

Methodists Plan
Luncheon, Dinner
For Missionary
Methodist women : from Med
ford, Talent and Gold Hill will
meet in the dining room of Med
ford First Methodist church
Tuesday, April 19, for a luncheon
honoring Miss Laura Heist, re
tired missionary.
The luncheon' is set for 12:30
p. m. and is a complimentary
event, with the meal to be served
by members of "the Woman's
Society of Christian Service of
First Methodist church here.
Miss Heist served in India
from 1921 until her; retirement
in 1954. She was graduated from
Willamette university in Salem,
and taught in the Lebanon and
Salem high schools before going
to India.
She also trained as a phy
siotherapist at Reed college, and
during World War I worked in
military camps in the East.
Ruth Esther Wesleyan Service
guild members will hear a talk
b Miss Heist, Tuesday evening.
A potluck dinner will be served
at First Methodist church at 6:30
p. m.
Dr. Raymond Balcomb will
discuss the Methodist social
creed. Members are invited to
take guests and any employed
women interested are invited to
attend.

To Flower Show
Central Point Everyone is in
vited to attend the flower show,
"The Old Stage Road," to be
presented by the Central Point
Garden club Tuesday, April 19,
from 1:30 p. m. to 8 p. m. at the
Legion Memorial hall.
A program depicting the com
ing of the pioneers to the Rogue
River valley will be presented
by students of Mrs. Ruby Down
ing's third grade at 3:30 p. m.
Tea will be served from 2 to 4
p. m.
This show is the tenth to be
presented by the Central Point
club, and in the past, each one
has, topped those of previous
years.
Club members are reminded to
be at the hall on Monday after
noon and to bring two dozen
cookies.

Blue Star Mothers here are
looking forward to two coming
events, a regular meeting Thurs
day, April 21, and a department
convention at Grants Pass Thurs
day, April 28. The convention
opens at 9:45 a. m., in the library
auditorium.
Reservations should be made
for the convention luncheon by
Monday, April 18, and- may be
placed by calling Mrs. Fred Mid
dlebusher, telephone 3-2232. Reg
istrations will open April 28 at
9 a. m., and the business meet
ing Will convene at 10 a. m.
Mrs. Audree Jonechat, a na
tional second vice-president, will
speak to the group and all Blue
Star. Mothers of the state are in
vited to attend. . "
At the meeting of the local
chapter Thursday, April 18 at
the Carpenter's hall on West
Main street, the women will
make laundry bags to be used at
Camp White. A business session
will be held at 1:30 p. m., and
any mother eligible to join the
group'is invited. Those wanting

the home of Mrs. Evelyn Tarr,

Of Arnold-PIS iggoner Rites .
Fhoenix Miss Dolly Dee Waggoner became the bride of
James Edward Arnold in a single-ring ceremony held Sunday,
April 10, in Phoenix Church of the Nazarene. The bride is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Osa Waggoner, 501 West Fifth street,
and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Arnold,
Jacksonville.
The Rev. W. V. McArthur read
the service at two o'clock in the
afternoon, and 100 guests were
present.
Baskets of white snapdragons
and calla lilies decorated the
church, and candelabra held
white tapers.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a ballerina
gown of white nylon net over a
satin and her fingertip length
tulle veil fell from a pearl
crown. She carried a heart
shaped bouquet of red rosebuds
and white carnations.
Mrs. Lois Morris was honor
attendant for her sister, and
lighting the candles were Miss
Janet Mires, cousin of "the bride,
and' Miss Linda Wallace. Mrs.
Morris wore a gown of pastel
blue net over satin with a lace
bolero and her flowers were a
head band and wristlet bouquet
of pink carnations. Both candle
lighters wore frocks of pink with
wristlets of white carnations.
The flower girl," Nena Morris,
niece of the bride, was dressed
in red and white nylon worn
with head band of white carna
tions. The mother of the bride was
attired in a beige suit with red
accessories and her corsage was
red carnations. The bridegroom'6
mother wore pink with white
accessories and her corsage was
white carnations.
Eugene Arnold was best man
for his brother and seating the
guests were Loyd Arnold, brother
of the bridegraam and Adrian
Steexe, brother of the bride.
Miss Kay Fisher sang for the
wedding, accompanied by Mrs
W. V. McArthur .
The reception was held in
Phoenix Community club. The
wedding cake was served by Mrs.
Tom Caster, and serving punch
was Mrs. Jack Klukkert, sister
of the bridegroom. '
The newlyweds traveled to the
coast for their honeymoon and
will live at 1354 Spring street,
Medford. The bride attended
Phoenix High school and Oregon
State college. Mr. Arnold at
tended Medford High school and
later served three years in the
United States Army. He is em
ployed by Warren Arnold, build
ing contractor.
Out-of-town guests included
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Teague,
Empire, Ore., cousins of the
bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Oerding, Coquille, Ore. ,

Hospital Auxiliary
Affiliated With
National Group
Community Hospital auxiliary
is now affiliated with the Amer
ican Hospital association, it was
announced today by Mrs. Shelby
Tuttle, president of . the local
group. The auxiliary board of
directors voted recently to join
the national association which
offers organizational and opera
tional help to hospital auxiliaries
throughout the country.
A scroll proclaiming the status
of the Medford auxiliary, as an
"institutional member" of the
American Hospital association is
now. hanging in the office of
Community hospital. Shoulder
patches showing the affiliation
have been attached to the pink
smocks worn by auxiliary mem
bers when working in contact
with patients.
Mrs. Tuttle also announced the
appointment of Mrs. Otto Frohn
mayer as head of staff services
for the auxiliary. Mrs. Frohn
mayer replaces Mrs. Elwood B.
Hedberg, who will remain in
charge of newspaper publicity.
Mrs. Jack Sanborn reports that
tray favors for the Easter holi
day were provided by members
of. Girl Scout Troop 158 of Jack
son school. The troop is led by
Mrs. Maurice Ritchey, assisted
by Mrs. Wilmer Warren. Other
favors were received at the hos
pital from the Applegate Sewing
Susans, and Mrs. Tom MacLeod,'
dietician, states that all were ap
preciated by . the patients and
staff members..
Officers Elected
By Medford Unit V
Miss Florence Bain was elected
chairman of the Medford Home
Extension unit at the April
meeting of the unit. Mrs. D. K.
Varner is the new vice-chairman;
Mrs. E. F. Archer, secre
tary, and Mrs. William Under
wood, treasurer.
The officers will be installed
at the June meeting, which if
weather permits, will be held in
Hawthorne park.
