Three Siamese cats are the household pets of Mr. and Mrs. Ray B. Larson, 45 Quince street. These exotic
animals are favored by many, while others object to their strange cries. All three of Mrs. Larson's pets are of
the seal point coloring, and all three were given oriental names. Chang and Tao are on her arm, while Tia
rests in Mrs. Larson's lap.
Favorite pet of Linda Cass is her dog, a golden cocker spaniel, which she named Friskie. Trained not to
sit on the furniture, Friskie had to be coaxed a bit to pose on the sofa with his mistress. Linda, 7-year-old daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Cass, 1232 Winchester avenue, is in the second grade at Washington school.
A tiny bantam hen named Baby Is the favorite pet of
little Nathan Douglas Wetherbee, and the small boy carries
the hen around with him whenever he plays outdoors. Douglas,
3'i years old, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald M. Wetherbee,
1432 Dixie lane.

Amerfcahs, young and old, are fond of pets and the typical family
usually owns at least one household pet. Cats and dogs, of course, are
the favored pet, but birds, horses, rats and even monkeys provide compan
ionship and pleasure.
Lisa, tiny spider monkey, is a favorite in the Arthur Peterson home in
Jacksonville. Lisa loves to chew gum, and has learned to drink milk from a
glass. Her diet is mainly fruit and she eats oranges, bananas or apples
with great relish. The Petersons aren't sure how old Lisa is, but report that
she is getting her second set of teeth.
Snafu, the white cockatoo which at one time was known to half of
Medford, now is a( pet in the household of Mrs Frank Janosky. in Jack
sonville. Snafu was brought to Medford by Hugh Collins when he returned
home from serving overseas during World War II, and came from the island
of Biak, one of the Schouten group. Snafu not only talks but when he was
kept at Surge Dairy supply on West Sixth street often startled staid matrons
with rousing wolf whistles. (Brainerd photos).

A blue parakeet ts one of the pets of Larry Sander, 9, ton
of the Roy Sanders, 2713 Orchard Home drive. The bird,
named King, rides on Larry's head or shoulder , and chatters
incessantly, saying his own name distinctly as well as a number
of other words. Larry is in the fourth grade at Griffin Creek
school. ' .s

Snafu, the white-crested cockatoo brought to Medford after
World War II by Attorney Hugh Collins, poses here with Mrs.
Frank Janosky, Jacksonville. Mrs. Janosky felt obliged to
apologize for Snafu's ragged appearance, since he was moult
ing at the time the photographer called. Mr. Collins thinks
Snafu is about 12 yors old. .
Alice Peterson, 7, poses here with her pet
spider monkey, Lisa. The monkey loves gum,
and is holding a stick. Alice is in the second grade
at Jacksonville school.

Gail Prentice Is pictured here with Red, the horse which she rides each , weekend
and during summer , vacation. Miss . Prentice, in the ninth grade at Medford Junior
High school, is the daughter of Mr., and Mrs. William H. Prentice, 1432 Crown avenue.
She is president of Rogue Rangers, new riding group for Medford young people, and
will ride in the play day which the Rangers have planned today.
