Local and Plan Sale Talent Garden club will hold a food and plant sale Saturday, April 16, begin ning at 10 a.m., at Valley locker At Community Mark Milne, seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Milne, 220 Keene- way dr., had tonsil surgery today at Community hospital. From Trip Mrs. V o 1 n e y Dixon has returned to her home at 526 West 10th st., after visit ing for a month in Phoenix, Ariz., with her daughter, Mrs Tom Hancock and family. Prospect Dancers The Pros pect Lumber Jacks and Jills will give a square dance Saturday, April 16, at 8:30 p.m., at the Community hall. Potluck re freshments will be served. Those interested are invited. Phoenix Dance Members of the Phoenix Grange will sponsor a square dance at the Grange hall Saturday, April 16, at 8:30 p.m. Doug Fosbury will do the calling. Women are asked by those in charge to take pastry or sandwiches for a potluck lunch. Gold Hill Club Those who plan to attend a dinner and theater party of the Amethyst Rebekah Friendship club of Gold Hil, Monday, April 18, are to meet at 7 p.m., at the home of Mrs. Paul Molloy in Gold Hill. The dinner will be at Kims res taurant south of Medford. Workshop Slated A 4-H club demonstration workshop will be held Saturday, starting at 9:30 a m., at Roxy Ann Grange hall. The workshop, for all members and leaders, is designed to pro mote 4-H club demonstration work at fairs, and other similar events. Three Car Accident Auto mobiles operated by Clarence Le roy Chew, 1040 West Main st., and Walter Wilford Johnson, 1702 West Main st., and a parked car owned by E. G. Hawkins, 623 South Riverside ave., were involved in a collision in front of 6616 South Riverside ave. yesterday. Police cited Johnson for failure to yield right of way. Mother Leaves Mrs. Amalia Ewaldsen left by United Air lines last evening to return to her home in Savannah, Ga., aft er visiting for Wz years in the valley. She first visited for some time at Ashland with her daughter, Mrs. Pangborn Par sons, and later was with her son, Otto Ewaldsen, and his family, 20 Ross court. She is scheduled to be in Savannah this evening. This is her first plane trip. Jailed Franklin Roosevelt Bahr, 21, Box 678, Eagle Point, has been jailed by state police on a charge of failure to operate a motor vehicle on the proper side of the highway according to jail records. Hit -Run Accident Ray H. Croft, general delivery, Monroe, reported to police the panel truck he was driving was hit by another vehicle which failed to stop at Court st. and McAndrews rd. yesterday. Dance Postponed A dance originally scheduled for Satur day, April 16, by the Steelhead post and auxliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, at the VFW hall at Shady Cove, has been post poned because of illness, officers said today. The future date for the dance will be announced. School Carnival Projects which the Jackson School Par ent Teacher association sponsor in benefit of the school will be aided through proceeds from a carnival today at 7 p. m., at the school. Lewis, Wash., were listed today by the Army. They are Sgt. George R. Long, 23, son of Mrs. Arthur Long, route 1, Ashland, and Sgt. Phylip L. Lausten, son of Mrs. Ethel Geyer, Central Point. Lausten, who attended Cen tral Ppint High school, is a Ko rean veteran and joined the Army in 1948. He is commun ications chief in Battery C, 37th field artillery battalion, 2nd In fantry division. MEDFORD MAN JOINS NAVY Harold Eugene Tye, route 1, box 432, Medford, has enlisted in the Navy, according to E. D. Houdesheldt, QM1, Navy recruit ing chief here. He will be as signed to Naval aviation after basic training and after a leave. AT ATLANTIC CITY Miss Nancy A. Busch, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Busch, Trail, has reported to the Naval air station at Atlantic City, N. J., where she has been assigned as an aircontrolman airman in the j operations department, accord-! ing to a Navy release. Before j entering the Navy, she was grad-1 uated from Eagle Point High school. Irish Setter Poisoned Mrs. Betty Ann Severson, 924 South Ivy st., reported to police her iris setter, valued at about $100, had been poisoned. A veterinar ian told police the dog appar ently died as a result of eating what appeared to be small pieces of chicken which probably con-1 tained poison. Mrs. Severson j found the dog lying on the liv- j ing room floor when she re turned home Wednesday. Injures Mouth Edward Dan iel Denman, aged 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Denman, 507 Mae st., injured his mouth yesterday when he ran into the side of a pickup truck driven by Loyal M. Bates, box 155, Talent, at the intersection of Saling and Mary sts. The stand-by re quest was made by the Air Force. Marshal Orders Two orders for correction of hazardous con ditions were issued by City Fire Marshal Truman Nelson yester day. He inspected two ware houses, three business occupan cies and a place of public as sembly. Crayons Smoke Firemen said that heavy smoke in the house at the Ivan S. Flannery residence, 132 Almond st., about 3:15 p.m. yesterday was caused by wax crayons placed by chil dren on top of a heating stove. Two pumpers were sent to the reported house fire. There was no damage, according to fire men. One pumper was sent to a flue fire at the William Chapm residence, 229 Laurel st., about 5:25 p.m. yesterday.
