April 14, 1953 Club Plans Dinner For Founders' Day Medford Altrusa club will ob serve 'Founders day at a dinner meeting set for tonight at 7 o'clock at Eaton's Dinner house. The program will be presented by the executive board headed by the president, Mrs. Bertha Haskins. Altrusa International was or ganized in April of 1917. You'll want to order every wonderful design in it Carnival Set For Friday Final arrangements have been made for the annual Jackson Parent-Teacher association car nival to be held Friday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at the jchool. Ac cording to the committee, there will be ''fun and fdod for young and old." Three big fish ponds with hun dreds of prizes will be in opera tion during the evening. Games of skill such as darts, bean bag throw, shooting gallery, penny throw, basketball throw, and the baseball throw will be avail able. A big "country store" booth will have a wide and varied se lection of articles for sale, and a plant booth and an apron booth are planned. A variety of food and drink will be on sale A TV room is planned f r the Friday night fight fans, and a movie will be shown after the fights.. Jackson PTA cordially invites all parents, children and friends of Jackson school to attend this one big money-making event of the year, the proceeds of which are used to maintain the budget and carry on worth - while proj ects for the school. Lake Creek Unit Holds Session at Wills Home Lake Sreek Lake Creek Ex tension unit held the April meet ing at the home of Mrs. Frank Wills, Lake Creek. Mrs. J. D. Arens presided, and 21 members and a visitor were present. Mrs. Leland Charley read a letter on Azalea house, and Mrs. J Davidson reported on Asso ciated Country Women of the World. Mrs. Carl Webb gave a health and safety report. The fi nance committee, Mrs. Ed Mey ers and Mrs. Davidson, conduct ed a white elephant sale. The lesson on "Simple Home Repairs" was given by Mrs. Ed Meyers and Mrs. Ernest Burrall. An Easter luncheon was served by the hostess, with Mrs. H. Meyer assisting. Easter songs were sung. The May meeting vill be held at the Burrall home, Lake Creek, and the county home demonstra tion agent, Miss Eula Winter mcte, will give the lesson on "Living Within Twenty-Four Hours a Day." Roll call will be on a one-week calorie chart. Dance Planned In Shady Cove Shady Cove Shady Cove post and auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, have planned 3 dance Saturday, April 16, in VFW hall. The committee states that good music will be provided, and the auxiliary will serv re freshments. Everyone is invited to attend. School Official To Give Talk for Washington PTA Washington Parent - Teacher association will meet Friday, April 15, at 2:15 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Following a short business meeting to be con ducted by Mrs. Harold Hublcr, club president, Leonard May field, assistant superintendent of Medford public schools, will speak on "The Duties and Re sponsibilities of School Offici als." The topic deals with the administration of the schools. Child care will be provided in Room 2, and refreshments will be served by mothers of stu dents in the second grade. The dance is open to the public and young persons of the vicinity are particularly invited, those in charge have an nounced. Music will be furnished by The Continentals, an Ashland dance band. Decorations will include art work, and tables will be ar ranged to stimulate a sidewalk cafe. Colleen Hope studio danc ers will furnish entertainment and refreshments will be served. YMCA Families To Hold Dinner Friday Evening The YMCA family night pro gram Friday, April 15, will be gin with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m., in the social hall. After the dinner members will work on a float for the Blossom Festival parade under direction of Darell Huson, Mrs. Arthur Brereton and Mrs. Eric de Place. Mrs. Huson is family night chairman for the "Y." Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dames and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Sweet will be in charge of gym nasium gqmes for children. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Donahue will direct dancing which will be for children and their . parents. A new swim class for children and parents also together will be conducted in the pool with Bob Jones, "Y" secretary, and Dr. William Roberts in charge. Seven Members Of New. Bethel At Grand Session Seven members of the newly instituted bethel of Job's Daugh ters in Medford are attending the 31st annual grand guardian coun cil session of . Oregon which opens in Portland today. Representing the bethel are Miss Sheila Spence, queen; Misses Janet Perry and Judy Lcbdell, senior and junior prin cesses; Miss Margaret Seiby, guide; Miss Noreen Pahlka, mar shall; Miss Peggy Lydiard, re corder and Miss Karal Selby, li brarian.
