To Be Kept Up To Date Prepared at the request of the Senate committee, the report was made by the General Serv ices Administration", the govern ment's housekeeping agency. Two Girls Subject Of Deportation Hearing at Salem Portland (U.R) Two little Salem girls born of an American mother are scheduled to be the subject of a deportation hearing in Portland Thursday. Sarah Lucia Venegas, 8, a Salem first grader, and her sister, Maria Elena, 6, have been charged by the government with overstaying their visitor per mits. Their mother is now a Spanish major at Willamette University. She is Mrs. Sarah Venegas, 27, the former Sarah Caroline Morse, who was born in Salem and attended high school there. She was married in Mexico at the age of 17. If she had not left this country until she was 21, the children would have re tained U. S. citizenship. Mrs. Venegas was granted a divorce and given custody of the children last year in Marion county Circuit Court. She says she cannot get passports for her two daughters because their father will not authorize them. Sens. Her Husband Refuses To Help With Baby Many men regard child care as "woman's work." However, they can carry this idea too far. (Q) "My husband was very anxious to have a child, especial ly a son. Well, I gave him a son last month and have found ever since I re turned from the hospital that his inte rest in the baby is purely a form of self- alor ifieatien. ifcn- ''''I' an iStf He loves to tell Dr. nuriocK everyone about the baby, how proud he is of him, and how delighted he is to have a son. But he never turn band to do anything for the e&oy. "It was a difficult birth for me. Since I had not bean urnll before the baby arrived, I am iiill far from back to normal. My husband won't get up at night when the baby cries or give him a bottle. He claims that he needs his rest to be able dc good work in the' office and that I can get my sleep during the day. I have plentv of house work and extra work for the baby so I need rest too. Don't you think mv husband shauld Ha something to help with his uaby?" (A) Yes. I do think a man should help with his baby's care and with the work in the home. This is especially true when his wife is not well. I cannot under stand why he has taken the at titude he has. unless it is he- cause he has the idea that it is unmasculine". for a man to do things for a baby. It would be a verv cooH itfaa for you to ask your doctor to talk to your nusband and explain to him how important it is for you to get rest, at least until you have recovered from havine the baby. Perhaps you need a good tonic to put you back on your feet. Then, could vou not arrange with your husband to share the night work for the baby? On week end nights he misht take over the job so you can have a night of unbroken sleep. If he will heln vou with some of the housework, when he is not at his office, you would have more time durine the dav to rest. It may be a consolation to both of you to know that the night waking of babies lasts for only a few months. Several months from now, you and your husband can both look forward to sleep ing through the night. (COPYRIGHT 1955. GENERAL FEATURES CORP.) TMMmitmMMjMMglMfmXW URGED TO CONTINUE Edward J.
