C. W. Frost, has announced. Good Friday service will be held at 8 o'clock tonight, open ing with selections by the or chestra entitled, "Cujus Ani mam" by Rossini, and "Lamb of God," by Bizet. The chorus will sing, "Elessed Redeemer." Prelude The prelude to the Sunday worship service at 11 a.m. will include, "Easter Fantasia," by Lake; "I Know That My Re deemer Liveth," by Handel, played by the orchestra: "Jesus, Prince of Life," by Brown, and "He Rose Triumphantly" by Ackley, sung by the chorus. The service at 7:50 p.m. will feature a cantata, "From Dark ness to Light," compiled by Ellen Jan Lorenz on the music of P. I. Tchaikovsky, under the direction of the Rev. Norman Allen. Soloists will be Mrs. Cecil Owen, contralto, Mrs. Duane Jones and Mrs. Randy Nichols, sopranos, and Duane Jones, baritone. Duets will be sung by Mrs. Ray Robinson and War ren H a n 1 i n, and Mrs. Randy Nichols and Efton Jones. A mix ed quartet and male chorus are also featured as well as the 40 voice chorus. No collections will be taken. PATRICK MAJOR At First Baptist Dual Theme Sunday At First Baptist Along with the Easter theme, the First Baptist church will emphasize on Sunday, April 10, the theme of carrying out the commission of Christ to carry the gospel to every nation, ac cording to church officers. The Rev. Patrick Major, who has served for 12 years as a mis sionary to India and plans to return with his family to that country this summer, will speak at the 7:30 p.m., service. At both the morning and night services an Easter offering will be taken for the purpose of aid ing the Majors to get back to the mission field for another term of service under the Conservative Baptist Mission society. The eve ning service also will feature the Easter story in song by the youth choir, directed by Mrs. Ted Graham. Sunrise Service Other services for the day will be include the .sunrise ser vice for all members and friends of the church, at a viewpoint on the Old Military road. Those planning to attend should meet at the church at 5:30 a.m., and transportation will be provided for those needing it. The Rev. James Neely will give the mes sage. The pastor will use as the subject of his message at the 11 a.m. service, "The Glory of His Resurrection." J. Robert Coch ran will lead the adult choir in the singing of two anthems, "The Message of Easter" by Wilson and "Ah, Holy Jesus" by Peery. The Rev." Mr. Major will speak to the young people of the church at 6:30 p.m. CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH Groveland Avenue and Oakwood Drive IDENTICAL SERVICES FOR EASTER 9:00 a.m. 1 1 :00 a.m. Easter Music and Sermon Young People Plan Sunrise Services; Parties Scheduled Easter observance at the Friends church Sunday will be gin with a sunrise service for young people at 5:30 a.m. at the J. W. Smith home on Old Stage rd. As a part of the program, Kenneth Kumasawa will read Van Dyke's poem, "God of the Open Air," and Dr. Wayne Rob erts will give a devotional mes sage. Following the service breakfast will be served in the Smith's patio. Two worship services are scheduled at the church, the first at 8:30 a.m. and the other at the usual 11 a.m. hour. Pastor Clynton- Crisman will deliver an Easter message and the choir will sing" at both services. New members will be welcomed into the church at the second worship hour, and Mrs. Raymond Brood will conduct junior church dur ing this service. Easier Program At 9:45 a.m., children of the beginner and primary depart ments of the Sunday school will present an Easter program to the adult department in the sanctuary. Intermediates and juniors will meet in Harmony hall to see a film, "The Lord is Risen." The church choir will present a concert at 7:30 a.m. of Easter music directed by Mrs. Crisman, with Mrs. Orrin Ogier accom panying. A film depicting the resurrection of the Lord will conclude the program. Children of the Sunday school will participate in a series of Easter parties today and Satur day which will include egg hunts on the church lawn. Pri mary boys and girls, grades 1 to 3, and their mothers will meet today after school, juniors and intermediates, grades 4 to 8, Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m. and preschool children and their mothers, Saturday, 2 to 3 p.m. AGE OLD, yet ever-new, is the transcendent glory . Medford Churches have planned inspiring services for Easter Sunday. A warm wel come awaits you at the Church of your choice and your faith. Nearly Identical Services Planned Two nearly identical services will be conducted at the Congre gational church on Easter, at 9 and 11 a.m. The sermon will be on the topic, "Why Are You Weeping?" The chair will pre sent the anthem, "Alleluia, Christ Is Risen" at both services and a women's trio will sing, "There Is a Green Hill." Egg Hunt Between the two services at about 10 o'clock an egg hunt will be held for the children of the Sunday school on the lawns of the church property. Np class sessions will be held for the Sun day school children, except for the nursery and lower primary groups. Their classes will be at the same time as the first service, a 9 o'clock. All the older Sunday school children are invited to attend the first church service with their parents. During the second church service the usual nursery cars will be provided for small children. Young Boys Group Will Open Program The newly - organized boys chorus will singunday at 9:45 a.m. for the opening program of the Sunday school at the Med ford Assembly of God, 1108 West Main st., according to the pastor, Rev. F. Wildon Colbaugh. Introduction of a new loyalty award system will be made at the service. Those at the Sunday school opening session will re ceive an enrollment pin. Dedication of babies also will be held. Dr. Merle Edwards, evangelist, will speak. At the morning worship ser vice Dr. Edwards' subject will be . "The Same Power to Us ward." Easter music by the church choir and orchestra will be presented. "The Great White Throne Judgment," will be the subject for Dr. Edwards' sermon at the 7:30 p.m. evangelistic service Sunday. Easter music also will be furnished by the various mu sical groups of the church. Tonight at 7:45 p.m. Dr. Ed wards' message will be on the topic, "A Well of Water." Remodeled Extensive redecorating has been done of the church annex and rearrangement of Sunday school facilities has been accom plished to accommodate a larger attendance. EASTER FILM The Easter story episode in the "This Is The Life," series produced by Lutheran television productions will be shown Sun day over KBES-TV. The cast will appear in authenticated cos tumes and surroundings to por tray the events during Christ's last days on earth. The story is a departure from the regular Sunday modern-day family portrayals. Methodists Will Televise Services Two of the Easter services of morning worship at the First Methodist church will be tele vised on a closed circuit to other rooms in the church, according to Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb, minister. Anthems will be sung by the Chancel choir under the direc tion of Mrs. C. R. Adamson, at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services. Included will be "Easter Carol of the Trees" by Gaul; "Resur rection" by Gounod. The Youth choir, under the direction of Mrs. George Sloniger, will sing the anthems, "Joyous Easter Hymn" and "The Strife Is O'er" by Peery, at the 8 a.m. service. Dr. Balcomb's sermon subject at all three services will be, "From Here To Eternity." A service of baptism will be held at 3:00 p.m. with the Chil dren's choir assisting. Sunrise Services Youth of the First Methodist church will join those of the First Christian church, First Presbyterian church, First Church of the Nazarene, Central Church of Christ, and Church of the Brethren for a sunrise serv ice at 5:30 a.m. on Heuner's hill. New Church Will Be Opened Sunday The new Forest Acres Com munity church, non denomi national, will be open to the public for the first time next Sunday. The Rev. Ernest F. Post is the pastor. The building, although not en tirely finished, is sealed with wall board on the inside and painted. Sunday school supplies now are on hand as are 50 church service hymnals with the name of the church imprinted on them. A piano has also been donated. The church property, valued at $10,000, will be almost free of debt when it opens Sunday. The pastor's address is Route 2, Box 213B, Central Point. Lutherans Announce Early Morning Rites Sunrise services will be con ducted at 6 a.m. Easter Sunday, at the Starlite theater sponsored by St. Peter's Lutheran church. The Rev. Kenneth Korby will speak. Those who attend also are in vited to the church at 1020 East Main st., after the services when coffee and dougnuts will be served. Sunday services at the church will include Sjmday school at 9:30 a.m., and worship at 11 a.m. Group From Medford Attending Conference The Rev. and Mrs. James W. Neely of the First Baptist church and eight messengers from the church traveled Thursday to Newell, Calif., for an annual meeting of the Shasta-Cascade Conservative Baptist association, held there April 7 through to day. The meetings, consist of busi ness and inspirational sessions. Missionary speaker is the Rev. Ralph Gorsline, of Brazil. The annual sermon was given by the Rev. Neely. The messengers attending the sessions from Medford are Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. John Morris, S. T. Bran nock, Mrs. W. D. Roberts, Mrs. A. D. Mitchell and Mrs. E. E. Wilson. Resurrection Will Be Portrayed in Program An Easter program will be presented Sunday by the Sunday school department of the Apo stolic Faith church, North Cen tral ave. at Third st. The young people's orchestra and chorus will participate and musical selections will be given by the primary, junior, and sen ior departments. A portrayal of the resurrec tion will be presented entitled, "The Empty Tomb." The story will be depicted in scenes, reci tation, scripture, and songs. Those representing the charact ers in the scene will be; Ronald O'Neill and Marilyn Overstreet, angels; Bernice Frohreich, Mary Magdalene; Deanna Brown, the other Mary; Jerry Iverson, Peter, and Danny Andrews, John. The program is under the direction of Mrs. Coy Bailey, and the gar den scene "was painted by Mrs. Isaac Shults. A favor will be given to each f hild jn the primary and junior departments. Interdenominational Sunrise Service Set An interdenominational Easter sunrise service will be held at 5:30 a.m. Easter Sunday at Heu ners hill, one mile west of Ar nold lane on Bellinger rd. Speaking on "What Easter Means to Me" will be Lily Br denstab, Richard Arnold, and Nathan Douthit. The participat ing churches are First Christian, First Presbyterian, First Metho dist, Church of the Brethern, Central Church of Christ, and Church of the Nazarene.
