Public Invited The public is invited to attend a Good Friday assembly at Rogue River high school from 2:30 to :i-30 p.m., April 8, school officials have an nounced. The students will con duct the assembly period and the school choir will furnish songs. A group of drama students also will give choral readings and the Presbyterian church at Rogue Rev. D. F. Hazards Found City Fire Marshal Truman Nelson issued four orders for correction of haz ardous conditions yesterday after inspecting a hotel and three busi ness occupancies. Business Name Ira L. Pilcher and Gertrude Pilcher, Salem, have assumed the business name Del Rio Trailer Sales for a busi ness in Medford, according to records filed in the office of the Jackson county clerk. To Colorado Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Van Galder, Jacksonville, plan to leave Friday by United Air Lines for Lyons, Colo., where Van Galder is interested in min ing properties. They plan to re main there through the summer months. Wendt are to arrive Fri day from Seattle, Wash., to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wendtt Old Stage rd. Young Wendt, 'a 1954 Oregon State col lege graduate, has been working in the engineering department at Boeing Aircraft plant in Se attle. He is a second lieutenant in the Air Force and recently was called to active duty. He is to report at Albuquerque, N.M.; on April 15. The couple plans to visit here through the week end. Returned Dr. and Mrs. Paul Dix, 801 West Main st., returned Wednesday after vacationing for 10 days in Los Angeles. There they met the parents of Dr. Dix, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Peterson of Chicago. Dr. Dix returned today to his offices at 210 Medical cen ter building. Meditation Service There will be a service of meditation with the Lord's Supper at the Congregational Church, 3 0 0 Oakwood dr., Thursday at 8 p.m. A group of young people will be baptized and received as new members. There will be an offer ing for relief and reconstruction, according to the Rev. Thomas McCamant, minister. News About Servicemen THREE PROMOTIONS EARNED BY OFFICERS Three first lieutenants in the 304th logistical command of the Army reserve here have been promoted to captains, it was an nounced today by Coi. William H. Prentice, unit commander. The three are Kenneth Black, adjutant of the command; Gor don Hays, finance officer, and Lawrence Neer, assistant opera tions officer. Captain Black is medical as sistant at the Camp White domi ciliary, Captain Hays is manager of the Ashland Mortuary, and Captain Neer is ernployed by the Monarch Seed and Feed com pany, Medford. Colonel Prentice also an nounced that there are other of ficer vacancies in the command. He invited interested reserve of ficers, not otherwise assigned, or reserve officrs of other branches of the service who wish to transfer, to inquire about the vacancies. Colonel Prentice pointed out the unit offers good training, pay, opportunities for advance ment and active duty tours and schooling. He invited any offi cers or former officers, or others qualified, who are interested in an assignment to get in touch with him. by telephoning 2-9295, or by calling at the Army re serve office on the second floor of the Federal building, 33 North Riverside ave. AWAITING ASSIGNMENT Harvey Beeney, a Navy air man, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Beeney, 3723 South Pacific high way and husband of Mrs. Lois Beeney, 3722 South Pacific highway, is now in Norfolk, Va., awaiting assignment to a Navy unit in the Atlantic area, accord ing to a Navy release. HOME ON LEAVE Pvt. James L. Paris, nephew of Mrs. Edward Johnson, 765 South Holly st., Medford, recent ly completed eight weeks of basic training at Ft. Ord, Calif., and is now visiting his aunt, accord ing to the Army recruiting of fice here. He enlisted in Med ford last Jan. 19. Before reporting for duty with the 6th Armored division at Ft. Re freshments will be potluck. Cars Collide Camille S. Lloyd, 36, South Stage rd., and Walter H. Hoffbuhr, 507 South Holly st., were drivers of cars which collided in front of 831 South Central ave., at about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to city police. Bike Stolen Theft of a bi cycle owned by John W. Harvey, 323 North Berkeley way, has been reported to city police. The bike was taken from behind Acme Hardware store on West Sixth st. Boy Arrested An 11-year-old Medford boy has been ar rested by city police after ad mitting several thefts including a portable radio taken from Mann's Department store, ac cording to police officers. The youth has been released to the custody of his parents. Grange Dance Phoenix Grange members will sponsor a square dance at the Grange Hall on Highway 99 in Phoenix Saturday, April 9, at 8:30 p.m. All square dancers interested are invited. McQueen, a carpenter, said to day cigarettes in a package hs found inside a hotel wall when he installed an air conditioning unit were dry but not bad at all. The cigarettes were "Lucky Strikes" in the green package that "went to war.'; Hotel offi cials said the wall was plastered last in 1928.
