t On TKe Side r By E. V. Durling (Distributed by King Fttturt Syndicate, Inc.) California is in again with something to top. A resident of the Golden State says he has been using the same typewriter for fifty-three yars! He bought it in 1902 and it still works fine. It was made in the U.S.A. Asking Queries fsom clients. Q. Is Howard Hughes, the Texas and Hollywood multimillionaire, a bachelor? A. A bachelor is a man who has never been married. Mr. Hughes has been married once. However, he is unmarried at this time. Q. "Who starred in the New York production of George Bernard Shaw's play, -"The Mind-the-Paint-Girl?" Has that play been filmed? A. Play you refer to was not written by Shaw but by Sir Arthur Wing Pinero. Billie Burke was starred in the original New York production. Anita Stewart was starred in a silent film version of "The Mind the Paint-Girl." Asides Note It said that five cups of coffee a day is a safe limit. That used to be my limit but I have increased my quota a little. I have four cups of coffee for breakfast, three at dinner. I use cream. That cuts down the effect of the caffeine. . . . "Among the things a young man should know," said my Uncle Al to me one rainy day in Brooklyn, "is that horses with large feet usually run well in the mud." Sidelights That brilliant composer of popular songs, Sam Coslow, is still receiving about $5,000 a year in royalties from his song "Cocktails for Two." . . . How are you on solving puzzles and riddles? Do you know where the oldest known riddle can be found? It is in the Bible, Book of Judges, Chapter XIV, Verses 14 to 18. Sayi She "Your reference to falsies for bathing suits as being something new is most amusing," writes a feminine subscriber. "Why, you poor innocent thing, women have been wearing falsies in bathing suits for over twenty years!" Eggs, Etc. People who order fried eggs turned over don't deserve to have eggs. Neither do those only two minutes. Fried eggs should be sunny side up. When boiled. the period of boiling should be four minutes. Incidentally, a man who insists his eggs bej unusually soft generally makes a difficult husband. Is fussy about other things and drives his loving wife ragged with his demands. Have your daughter keep this in mind. Before she accepts a man who proposes mar riage, tell her to be certain to ask him, "how do you like your eggs boiled?" Briefly Women born under Capricorn (December 22-January 19) are the most polite females of the Zodiac. They even thank men for giving them their seats in the subway. Or, so say the star gazers. . . . Eyesight expert says brunettes see better than blondes. Could that be the rea son the brunettes have better looking husbands than blondes? Or why so many blondes feature so many curious color combina tions in their attire? Please Note When husband and wife are red haired their children are usually red haired. When one of a couple is red haired, they generally have at least, one red haired child. However, did you ever hear of a husband and wife both having jet black hair whose children are all red haired? It has happened. A British couple, John and Pauline Earle, both dark haired, have five red hair ed children. A set of twins and a set of triplets. Three boys, two girls.
