Local and Medical Care Edward France, route 1, Box 68, Jackson ville, is listed today as a medical patient at Community hospital. Dismissed Mrs. Fred Beck, Old Stage rd., was dismissed to day from Community hospital where she had been since March 16 when she underwent surgery, attendants reported today. Has Surgery Jerry Lambo, 1389 South Peach st., Oregon State college student, underwent surjcry today at Community hospital, according to a report from the hospital. Plant Sale A plant sale will be sponsored Thursday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., by Central Point Garden club worn en. The sale will be held in the former Crater Electric store. PTA Speaker Dr. Bill Samp son, an instructor at Southern Oregon college, will speak at a meeting of the jMediord Junior High school Parent-Teacher as sociation Thursday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m., at the school. Littrell, Jackson county state representa tive, will arrive in Medford from Salem Thursday evening by plane en route to San Francisco to attend the Motorama show there. Czmowski, until re cently of Tule Lake, have pur chased the Dora May Hilton property at the Stage road over pass at Gold Hill, according to a release from the Walker Real Estate offices where the transac tion was made. Mortensen, Siskiou Me morial Park, and her mother Mrs. Mabel E. Wright, 842 West 13th st. Arrington is in the Coast Guard. Mother Dies Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Crawford left yesterday for Junction City, Ore., where they were called by the death of Mrs. Crawford's mother, Mrs. Katie H. Moffett, 81. Funeral services are to be held Thursday. Mrs. Moffett's family has lived in the Junction City area for many years. The Crawfords will return the latter part of the week. To Conference Several Med ford persons plan to attend an annual convention of the West ern International Association of Refrigeration Service Engineers society to be held March 25 through 27 at Tacoma, Wash. Ottinger, Tal- j ent. On Honor Roll Mrs. Lester Albert Watkins, the former Miss Norma Nadine Davies, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred E. Da vies, Route 1, Eagle Point; and Carroll Walker Powell Jr., whose parents live at Central Point, have been named to the Bob Jones university dean's list for the first semester of the 1954-55 school year. The dean's list is an official report which names only those students whose grades averaged "B" or above for the semester. John Thompson of Trinity Episcopal church officiating. Interment will be in Jacksonville cemetery. She was born in Marshall, Minn., on Oct. 30, 1896, and had been a resident of the Rogue valley since 1928. Survivors include her hus band, Guy; a daughter, Mrs. Dan Favor, Medford; a sister, Eve lyn Hunecke. Anoka, Minn., and two grandchildren. Jailed Peter Allen Key, 32, Bakersfield. Calif., has been ar rested by city police and lodged in the Jackson county jail on a charge of obtaining money un der false pretenses, according to county jail records. Flue Fires Firemen report ed chimney fires at 3:25 p.m. yes terday at the William Townes residence, 918 Newtown st., and at 9:15 a.m. today at the home of Thomas B. Hicks, 319 Mary st. They said there was no dam age. Runaways Three juvenile boys are being held in the Jack son county jail as runaways. They include a 14-year-old from Washington county, who was picked up in Eureka, Calif., and a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old both from Napa, Calif., picked up in Ashland. Fined Dennis Melvin Burns, 19, of 410 North Bartlett st., pleaded guilty in district court yesterday to charges of disord erly conduct and was fined $50 and court costs. The charge in volved breaking a window at the home of Walter Froereich, 303 Berrydale ave. Vehicles Collide Francis A. Deneke, Salem, and Floyd S. Stacey, 1415 West Eighth st., were drivers of vehicles which collided yesterday at the inter section of Eighth and Holly sts., according to city police. THEY NEVER Acceptance Said Shown By Growth of Jaycees Portland U.R) E. Lamar Buckner, Ogden, Utah, president of the U. S. Junior Chamber of Commerce, last night said the growth of the Jaycee organiza tion was indicative of national acceptance of its program. Buckner spoke last night at the Columbia Athletic Club. He came to Portland from San Francisco, after a stopover at Ashland, Ore. He said the Jaycee had attracted 250 new chapters and 15,000 new members this year. Injured William Vines, Cen tral Point, was treated and re leased about 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Sacred Heart hospital, for badly lacerted lips and facial cuts which he suffered when hit in the face by a logging chain, ac cording to a report " from the hospital. He was working in the woods near Copper for Mike Ober Logging firm when the accident occurred, the report indicated. Homemakers' Class The Homemakers' class of the First Methodist church and their fam ilies will meet for a potluck sup per Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the dining "room of the church. Wives are to bring a main dish and either a dessert or a salad, and their own service. After the sup per Dr. W. W. Howard will show slides of a trip made from Cin cinnati down the Mississippi to New Orleans, across country to Florida, and to Cuba; also a river trip into the Everglades of Florida, returning west by car via the Grand Canyon and Los Angeles.
