Fields-Evans Vedding Held In Jacksonville Jacksonville Mr. and Mrs. Keith Fields, whose wedding was an event of February 10 at the Jacksonville Presbvterian If i hlJ x fir" Mrs. Keith R. Fields church are living at Crescent City, Calif., where the bride groom is employed at Lund's Plywood company. They made their wedding trip to Washing ton state. The bride is the former Miss Joyce Janene Evans, daughter of Mrs. Dee Zimmerman, 346 South Holly street, and of M. L. Evans of 1951 West Main street, Medford. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Ruby Miller, Cres cent City, Calif., and George Fields, . Stevenson, Wash. The Rev. N. K. Tully per formed the double ring cere mony at 1 o'clock in the after noon. About 25 guests attended. The bride chose the church since It also was the scene of her bap tismal rites. Miss Judith Mooring, Jackson ville, was the maid of honor and Jim Fields, Areata, Calif., was best man for his brother. Mr. Evans gave his daughter In marriage. For her wedding the . bride wore a blue suit with white trim and navy blue accessories. Her flowers were white gardenias with pink carnations. Miss Mooring wore a dark colored suit with black acces sories and her flowers were white carnations. The church was decorated with dutch iris and white carna tions. Mr. and Mrs. Evans and Mr. nd Mrs. Zimmerman were hosts for the reception which was held at the Evans home. The bride attended Medford high school and has been em ployed as a secretary at the Guardian Insurance company. The bridegroom received his education at Stevenson. Chapter AA Chapter AA of the PEO sister hood will be entertained in the home of Mrs. C. G. Van Valzah, 15 Geneva avenue, Wednesday, March 23. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. with Mrs. H. Jeffries, Mrs. J. M. Hamilton and Mrs. O. T. Heyerman assist ing the hostess. Mrs. Frank Van Dyke will give the program. Sues ?-;r.- Service League Style Show Is Kindergarten Benefit Rogue Valley Country club be came a French cafe last week for the annual spring style show of Medford Junior Service lea gue. Tables were set up under gay striped awnings, spring blossoms were sold from flower stalls and models paraded across a stage which was set as a side walk cafe. Two jaunty Frenchmen tried to attract the interest of the models as they crossed the stage while an organ grinder with mu sic box and monkey, and an art ist with paint boxes and easel were under the watchful eye of a gendarme wearing an au thentic red and blue uniform. The show was staged Thurs day and Friday afternoons, and Friday evening, and proceeds will go for the support of the league's kindergarten for deaf children. Opening scene of the show was given over to the small fry in the care of Mrs. John C. Collins, dressed as a French nurse. Child ren who modeled were Connie Herman, Mary Lyn Ellis, Allen Collins, Debbie Temple, Gary Holden, Karen Morgan, Mark Spiegelberg, Lee Wimberley, Chris Bartels and Sherry Baker. Mrs. R. B. Thierolf and daugh ter, Karla, then modeled match ing mother and daughter dresses. The show continued with sports, TV, shopping and after noon apparel. Applause from 'the audience" indicated special in terest in two dresses modeled by Mrs. Frank Hopewell, these showing Mexican and Navajo in fluence with exotic embroidery and very full skirts of tiny pleats. Mrs. C. H. Buff ington modeled an1 imported British tweed suit which had the "very newest" cut for the coat.and Mrs. Robert Cunningham wore Harlequin "beachcoming" pants with Italian shirt. One ensemble which Mrs. Donald Herried modeled was a dark plaid cotton dress with linen bolero jacket, The women in the audience also showed much interest in a flannel suit with trumpet skirt modeled by Mrs. Richard Reum, and a frock of white cotton lace over black taffeta modeled by Mrs. Carl Wimberly Jr. After intermission the show continued with Mrs. Robert Tay lor wearing a lavender colored frock first worn by Dorothy Ma lone, movie actress, in "Young at Heart." The dress was borrow ed from Warner brothers. Mrs. Edward Collins modeled an empire sheath dress which was set off by two enormous brown and white roses, and Mrs. James Henry brought applause when she appeared in a cotton dress with huge polka dots. Mrs. George Lewis wore a black and white silk formal gown designed with a bustle bow so large that it covered the entire back of the frock, and Mrs. Buffington's pink taffeta formal dress was set off by a fluffy muff of pink fur. When Mrs. Jack Lewis model ed a pink brocaded formal gown with blue fox stole, her coiffure was accented with a streak of blue-silver paint. For the wedding party Mrs. Lawrence Ellis was the bride. Mrs. Donald Wood, substitut ing for a member who was ill, modeled a tie silk polka dot sheath dress with white bolero, as well as other dresses. Shops cooperating for the show were Penney's, Mann's, Needlecraft, Leon's, Big Y Tot shop, Jean Hart, Pick's, Fashion e 1 1 e, Adrienne's, Burelson's, Town and Country, Hadley's, Bert Pree, Brophy's, Maude Codding, Johnston and Stewart, Buster Brown, six beauty salons,- including Cook's, Lady Medford, East Side, Mann's, Vic tor's and Burelson's shop. Mrs. B. Brqndt Bartels, Mrs. Floyd H. Baker and Mrs. C. H. Buffington were general chair men. Mrs. Bartels, Mrs. R. B. Temple, Mrs. ' George McGill, Mrs. Emil Mohr, Mrs. Berwick Wood and Mrs. James Keeble made up the cast for the side walk scene. Among those from out-of-town at the show were a number of guests of Mrs. Alex Tummers, Central Point. Included in the group were Mrs. Sidney Brazett, Mrs. Tom Cudd and Mrs. How ard Hall, Grants Pass; Mrs. Ed Bolt, Homestead-on-the-Rogue, Mrs. Richard Reynen, Ashland; Mrs. O. D. Martin and Mrs. W. E. Thomas, Medford. Gayle Thoreson Honored Guest Wedding Today Talent Miss Gayle Thore son, Talent, whose wedding to Donald Gary Mullin will be an event of today at 3 p. m., at the Medford First Methodist church, was honored at a bridal shower last week. The event, was given at" the home of Mrs. Gerald Ste phens, Talent, and the hostesses were Mrs. Robert Mullin, Mrs. Leo Jacobs and Mrs. Clarence Cooper Jr. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Thoreson. The bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mullin, live at 209 South Orange street in Medford. The bride-elect was given mis cellaneous gifts for her new home. Harris, Central Point, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of . their daughter, Gail Arden Harris, to James Leon Guss, Central Point. The wedding is planned for April 10 in First Christian church, Medford. Miss Harris was graduated from Crater High school with the class of 1953. Elaine Nelson, -Douglas McNeil To Wed in April Applegate Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nelson, Applegate, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Elaine Maureen Nelson, to Douglas Ray McNeill, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Childreth, Jacksonville highway near Medford. Miss Nelson, a 1954 graduate of Grants Pass High school, is now enrolled at Medford Beau ty school. The bridegroom-elect ir a 1954 Medford Senior High school graduate and is employ ed at the Brill Metal Works in Medford. The couple has set their wedding for April 3 at the Ap plegate church. 4 Bow Bells Chapter Schedules Meeting A meeting of Bow Bells chap ter, Daughters of the British Empire, is scheduled for Wed nesday. March 23 when Miss Mary Ellen Bell will show pic tures of a recent European trip. The meeting will open at 8 p.m. and will be held at Girls' Com munity club. Plans also will be made for a dutch auction to be held in April, and members are remind ed by the officers that 1955 dues are payable this month. All women of Canadian, Brit ish and Australian birth or an cestry are invited. Gardner, 323 South Peach street, announce the engagement of their daughter, Venita Deloris, to Dick Ray Jack, son of Mrs. James Lucas, 143 Third street, Ashland, and Raymond Eugene Jack, Los Angeles. Miss Gardner is a graduate of Medford Senior High school with the class of 1951 and at tended Oregon State college. Her fiance was graduated from Henley High school with the class of 1948 and is also a grad uate of Pierce Agriculture col lege, Conoga Park, Calif. He served with the' United States Navy for three years. The wedding is planned for June. The bride-elect is a grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Murrey, 1034 West Ninth street, who observed their 57th wedding anniversary on March 17. The Murreys have lived in Jackson county for 50 years. Club Makes Plans For Easter Party An Easter party is planned for the Junior Degree of Honor club on April 9, at the home of Mrs. H. G. Wilson, 7 Chestnut street, from 2 to 4 p.m. The plans were made at a meeting of the club March 12 at the Lincoln school gymnasium. Also announced was the com ing visit of Mrs. Clara Gertson, state organizer, who will be here May 21 for inspection. New year books were pre sented and Mrs. H. G. Wilson read a letter from the national president, Mrs. Edna E. Dugan, which commended the group on the new books. Miss Sharon Forde presided as president for the business meet ing and Virginia Vaughn was a junior guest. She also furnished dance selections for the program Miss Carol Krause led the re freshment march. Crump, grand guardian of Oregon for the In ternational Order of Job's Daughters, has selected Miss Sheila Spence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Spence of Florence avenue, as honored queen of the new bethel of the Health Group Sends Delegates To Conference The Jackson County Health association will be represented at a Pacific Northwest Confer ence on Family Relations to be held in Portland March 24 and 26, those in charge of plans here announced last week. The repre sentatives from here will be Mrs. Bert Simmons, secretary of the Jackson County Council for Children and Youth; and Mrs. Henry Padgham, vice-president of the Jackson County Pub lic Health association, a mem ber of the board of the Southern Oregon Child Guidance clinic, and of the mental health commit tee of the health association. Mrs. Chester Guches, and Miss D. Eula Wintermote, county extension agent, have been the conference planning committee for this area. Brock Chisholm, M.D., inter nationally - noted psychiatrist and former director-general of the UN world health organiza tion, will be the main conference speaker. Purposes of the conference framework is to give special attention to such topics as aging members in the family group, changing concepts of child rear ing, counseling of adolescents and persons with marital con flicts, the emotionally disturb ed child, family-centered religi ous programs, parent education, use and misuse of visual aids and juvenile delinquency.
