Losing pitcher Schultz. secretary to the commission, said the commission doctor, James Ryan, reported Moore had a rapid pulse when he examined him. A heart specialist was called in. The gpecialist, Dr. Winston Hall, would not discuss Moore's condition. Dr. Ryan reported that his refusal to grant Moore a license was not necessarily permanent. Moore said in the hospital that there was nothing wrong with his heart "I came into the hospital be-" cause of my stomach, which has been acting up," Moore said. He blamed his condition on taking too' many acids in attempting to work off weight rapidly. Moore said he had always had an irregular heart beat but it was nothing to worry about. He said he expected to be al lowed to fight in San Diego soon. "I think I'll be out of the hos pital in a couple of days," he said. Women's Golf Last Thursday the. scheduled play for the best call foursome was changed to medal play. Mrs. Jack Wood was the winner in the A group with a net 39. Mrs. Richard Finch won in the B group with a net 40. In the C group Mrs. W. L. Stark won with a net 44 and in the D group Mrs. J. W. Barnard and Mrs. T. C. Groomes tied with net scores of 44. This week the Lady Golfers will be busy helping to make the Oregon Open scheduled for March 24-27, a success. During the tournament the Lady Golf ers will have hot dog and coffee concessions on the course. Mrs. C. B. Collins, Mrs. W. L. Stark and Miss Isobel Stuart head the committee for the consessions. Mrs. Roger Clark, chairman of the scoring committee, has announced that due to a large number of entrants for the Ore gon Open tourney, and a lack of scorers, women golfers will not score for the tournament. Lady's day play will be re sumed on March 31. Pairings will be posted the week follow ing the Oregon Open Tourna ment. PCC Plans Vote Against TV Plan Los Angeles (U.R) The Pa cific Coast Conference ' revealed Saturday it will vote against the proposed NCAA 1955 football television program, but will wait for final NCAA membership vote before deciding .whether to par ticipate in the plan. "The conference," said com missioner Victor O. Schmidt, "has decided to cast a negative vote, but intends to see if the plan is adopted by the NCAA membership before deciding to what extent, if any, PCC mem bers may participate in it." Two Washington Players Get Eligibility Back Seattle (U.R) Two Univer sity of Washington football play ers who were suspended from the squad last fall after violating training rules and subsequently facing morals charges, were re stored to full eligibility as under graduates Friday. Bert Watson, 205-pound guard, and George Strugar, 225-pound tackle, will be allowed to turn out next month for spring prac tice, Coach Johnny Cherberg said. For years football receipts paid the way for other sports on collegiate programs. Min nesota may have changed the pattern. The Gophers last fall re ceived $21,270.86 for their football game at Pittsburgh. This winter the Minnesota receipts on the Iowa basket ball game, which drew 20,176 fans, were $17,869 at the game and $4,645 for radio and television. Total $22,514. Rest Credited For Victory of Carmelo Costa New York (U.PJ-Plenty of rest gave young Carrnjslo Costa of Brooklyn the terrific speed that enabled him to upset Cali fornia's Joey Lopes Friday night and will make him the favorite over Mexico's Raton Macias in their non-title fight at Madison Square Garden in late May or June. Like a jet plane zooming around a bomber, featheweight contender Costa was "in" and out" Friday night as he won a unanimous 10-round decision over lightweight contender Lo pes of Sacramento, Calif., before 2,400 in the Garden.. Matchmaker Billy Brown said today he would argjge a non title bout for 20-year-old Car melo with Mexican Macias, who recently won the National Box ing Association's version of the bantamweight title in a fight with Chamrern Songkitrat of Thailand. Each Weighed 130 Although Lopes is the ninth ranking lightweight contender and Costa is the ninth - ranking featherweight " aspirant, each weighed 130 pounds Friday night. Carmelo will pare down to 126 pounds for bantamweight Macias. There were no knockdowns in the exciting contest, but Lopes went to his knees after being hit with a left hook in the sixth session. Referee Harry Kessler ruled that Joey went down from a slip rather than from the punch. Each fighter bled from slight cuts above both brows, and Cos ta also had a small gash on his forehead. No stitches were re quired. It was Costa's 25th victory in 30 fights. He lost only twice and was held to three draws. Lopes, 24, suffered his sixth defeat in 38 bouts. A AU Spots t Are Seeded Denver (U.R) The defending champion Peoria Cats and the powerful Phillips Oilers, peren nial champions, were seeded the favorite spots in the 32-team Na tional AAU Basketball Tourna ment bracket Saturday. The Denver Central Bankers, another member of the National Industrial League, and North Carolina State were seded next in the 25-team field that begins a week of play Monday night. The AAU bracket committee handed out seven first-round byes since the field did not fill the bracket. The four top-seeded teams re ceived first-round byes along with Ada Oilers of Houston, Tex.; the San Francisco Olym pic club, and Milwaukee Allen Bradley. To calm his loyal supporters whose outrage was exploited by youthful thugs, star right-winger Maurice Richard made an appeal for moderation Friday night. He urged fans to support the team in its fght to capture the Na- tonal Hockey League title. The Canadiens meet the New York Rangers here tonight and finish the season in a decisive game at Detroit Sunday night. In Both Languages Richard made his appeal in both French and English over all radio and television stations. He said he was willing to take his punishment. He added that he will "come back next year to help the club and younger players," setting at rest rumors that he would retire as a result of his suspension for the remainder of this season for a fight at Boston last Sunday night. The forfeiture of the game against Detroit Thursday night because of the riot put the Red Wings into first place. A victory tonight would move Montreal into a tie, setting the stage for Sunday's climactic ejticounter. Mayor Jean Drapeau warned that any attempt to renew the violence would not be tolerated. Police Director T. O. Leggett drafted detailed plans for crack ing down on demonstrators. Leggett said public assembly or parading outside the Forum before or during tonight's game is forbidden. No placards or ef figies such as those carried Thursday night will be permit ted, he said.
