SIXTEEN MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Thursday, March 17. 1953 Soviet Attack on US Would Be Suicide' San Gabriel, Calif. U.PJ Rep. Patrick J. Hillings (R-j Calif.) said today a Russian j atomic attack on this country "would be a "suicide mission be-i cause in four hours we could j destroy every Soviet city." j "Americans have very little i to worry about with respect to j attack," Hillings told a gather-j ing of savings and loan execu-l tives here yesterday. "Even if! the Russians should decide to j attack us, they could get only as j far as Seattle with the weapons ! they have at their command,, ! "This would be a suicide mis-1 sicn and you don't win a war j with such tactics," he said. ; "Within two hours after such an ! attack, we could assemble our own offense and defense to the ! point that within another two j hours, we, ourselves, could de stroy every Soviet city." GRANGE Lake Creek Grange Lecturer Eunice Pech of Lake view Grange gave an interest ing report on her trip to the state lecturer's conference at Corvallis. She hopes to have a film shown at Grange that she saw at Corvallis. Ira Woolfolk announced a meeting of the Sams Valley Beagle Conservation District to be held at Eagle Point on March 21. Lake Creek Grange voted not to participate in the exchange meetings among the Granges, it being the busy season of the year during July or August. Meetings will not be held twice a month. Lake Creek Grange members voted in favor of having Smith Hughes training or vocational training in the Eagle Point high school as soon as possible. Mrs. Mark Hoefft is the Red Cross representative for this area. All that wish to contribute may call her at her home. Mrs. George B. Brown is im proving from her illness, but still at Sacred Heart hospital. It is hoped that she may soon be well enough to return home.
