it' Plan Conference For Older Girls . The 1955 Oregon Older Girls conference will be held at Menu cha conference grounds near Portland Friday, March 25, through Sunday, March 27. This weekend is sponsored annually by the Oregon Council of Church Women to foster and de velop Christian leadership and character. "Joyous Chvistian liv ing" is the theme for this year's conference. Miss Dorothy Harding, direc tor of Wesley Foundation on the University of Oregon campus, will be the guest speaker for the weekend. Workshops on daily living, music, religious drama, art, vocations, teaching in the church, and worship will give the girls essential foundation material to use in their own churches. Exchange students from several nations will com pose a panel on "Christian Girls at Work in Other Lands." President of the Conference, Miss Joyce Hill, at Willamette university, Salem, and the con ference director, Dr. Frecda Hartzfeld, dean of women at Lewis and Clark college, Port land, hops that many will at tend. The cost is S9.50 (S7 for meals, SI for travel pool, and S1.50 for registration). Inquiries and registration are to be made through Miss Una Davies, Mult nomah college, Portland. Any girl in Oregon of high school or college age is invited to attend the 1955 Oregon Older Girls conference. Kelso OI.R) James D. Tatom. 23, of Longview, the so-called "busy - burglar," has been sen tenced to 15 years in the state reformatory on each of two grand larceny charges. Root, pastor of Medford Free Methodist church, spoke at the last meet ing of Medford Women's Christ ian Temperance Union, held at Girls Community club. The minister 'talked on nar cotics, and a film on this sub ject was shown by J. Bowman of the Salvation Army. Mrs. E. J. Gilstrap reported on a meeting of the Loyal Temp erance Legion, which she directs. Mrs. Minnie Bryant was nam ed chairman of a rummage sale to be held March 24-25 at 106 North Ivy street. Mrs. Bryant Named asks those having articles for the sale to take them to the building on March 23 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Those with rummage are asked to call Mrs. Ina Renker, 2-8368, or Mrs. H. Lone Pine PTA' Holds Election; Clinic Planned At the annual Dad's night meeting held recently by Lone Pine Parent-Teacher association, election of officers was held. Serving for the ensuing year will be Mrs. George Paul, presi dent; Mrs. Hugh McGinty, vice president; Mrs. Cecil Norris, sec retary and Mrs. Floyd Fogel quist, treasurer. An innovation for the school this spring will be pre-school roundup. It will be held the afternoon of March 21, with a baby clinic in the morning. Fol lowing the roundup the pre school children will be enrolled in a day nursery which will be held every day following until school is dismissed. Parents who have children starting to school next fall are asked to bring them to the clinic March 21 for enrollment in the nursery. -e Winners Announced By Camp White Club Camp White Mrs. T. J. Fuson and Mrs. R. J .Conroy headed the list of north-south winners for the last meeting of Camp White Duplicate Bridge club, scoring 99 points. A score of 92 J2 points by William Hickey and Dr. C. K. Todd took first place among east-west play ers. Other north - south players were George Choate and How ard Boyd, second, 93 points; Tom Munds and Mr. Fuson, 86. third. Mrs. Frank Baker and Asa L. H. Kimball scored 894 to take second place east-west, and Marion Milne and Mrs. How ard Boyd were third with 84 points.
