Local and To Hold Sale Providence guild of Sacred Heart hospital vill hold a rummage sale Fri day and Saturday, March 13 and 39, in the Fehl building, 106 North Ivy st. Discharged Glenn Yost, 518 Haven st., who has been at Com munity hospital since Nov. 16 when he was critically injured in a logging accident, was dis charged from the hospital today, according to attendants. Ankles Fractured Fritz Voight, route 2, box 220, broke both ankles yesterday in an acci dent while working at Pinnacle Orchards 401. according to a report from Community hospi tal where he has been since the accident. To Enter Plea James Horn . 54, route 3, box 213C. Grants Pass, will enter a plea March 21 to charges that he was operating a motor vehicle while he was in toxicated. according to court records. Horn is free on $255 bond. St. Patrick's Dance A St. Patrick's dance will be held Fri dav. March 13. from 3:30 to 11:30 p.m., at the Moose hall by the Moose lodge members. Non- members are invited. Coffee will be served without charge, offt cers said today. Man Arrested Bryon Ray mond Warren, 30, a salesman, was arrested by state police yes terday afternoon at a Medford motel where he was staying. Po lice authorities in Florence have a warrent charging Warren with obtaining money under false pretenses. He is being held in the county jail and will be pick ed up by Lane county authori ties. Joint Entry The third-place winner in the Easter basket con test of Medford Retail Mer chants association was jointly made by Penny Sampert, Ursula Bates and Jerelyn Smith, all of Oak Grove school, it was point ed out yesterday. The basket was made under the supervision of Mrs. Henry Kammann. art Instructor at the school, and en tered only under Miss Sampert's name. Extinguish Fire Firemen from the west side station last night put out a small fire burn ing in dry grass and leaves along the curb "in the 500 block of Park ave., they said this morning. Two gasoline spills were flushed from city streets by firemen yester day. Fire Marshal Truman Nel son yesterday . inspected four business occupancies, one place of public assembly, and one home at the request of the owner. He issued four orders for correction of fire hazards. Arrested John Lindsay, 22, of 338 North Front st., has been arrested by city police and lodg ed in the county jail on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses, according to jail rec ords. Hits Sign Roy Lee Thomp son, 1557 Stewart ave., was the driver of a car which collided vith a stop sign early Tuesday at the Fourth st. railroad cross ing, according to city police rec ords. There were no injuries and no citations. Dismissed Larry and Harry, 8-year-old twins, and their sister Karen, 3, children of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dalbec, Eagle Point went home today from Osteo pathic hospital after being there since Tuesday for tonsil sur geries. Cars Collide Cars operated by Kathryn B. Thomas. 430 North Fourth st., Central Point and Mary M. Fry. Box 161, Hilt, Calif., were involved in a colli sion at about 9:10 a.m. Monday at the intersection of 12th st. and Riverside ave., according to city police. Square Dance A square dance will be held Saturday, March 19, from 8:30 p.m. to midnight at the Phoenix Grange hall with Doug Fosbury as caller. Grange members will sponsor the event and women are asked to take sandwiches or pastry for a potluck lunch. Omissions Listed There were several omissions in a story yes terday about promotions in Bliss Heine's Juniors, he said today Theresa Fogal was promoted to sergeant, and in the mascot sec tion Krista Baker and Vicky Webster were advanced to ser geant. Melody Bogener was ad vanced to master sergeant, Nan cy Bogener to second lieutenant, and Judy Morris to captain. In the drum section, Rickie Zim merman was' advanced to cap tain. Apron Auction The auxil iary to the Uraternal Order of Eagles will met Thursday eve ning at the Eagles hall where an apron style show will be held. The aprons will be auctioned with the proceeds to go to the "The Boys Town of the West," sponsored by Eagles lodges of Washington and Oregon. The school is near White Salmon, Wash. It gives help and schooling to underprivileged boys from 7 to 17 years of age. A dormitory is being built by the Eagles and auxiliary members donate beds, bedding, curtains, food and num erous articles for the dormitory. Theme for this year's show is "Novelty." Accident Reported Albert F. Clauss, 3 Greenway circle, and Burtell B. Anderson, Skamoka wa, Wash., were drivers of cars which were involved in a colli sion between Sixth and Main sts. on Central ave. yesterday at about 7:15 p.m., according to city police. No citations or in juries were reported by investi gating officers. Cars Collide Billy M. Mor ris, Box 147, Prospect, and Reva P. Merritt, 2685 Crater Lake highway, were drivers of cars which collided on Bartlett st. between Fourth and Fifth sts., yesterday at about 1:20 p.m., according to city police. There were no citations, and no injur ies were listed. At Community Arvill N. Miller, Glendale. Ore., was ad mitted today to Community hos pital as a surgery patient. Danny A. Nicholson, lli-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Nicholson, 423 V2 Berrydale ave., is a medi cal patient there and Deborah Ann, 5, and Nancy Jean, 8, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Clemans, 313 Irving lane, had tonsil surgery there today. CD Meeting Col. Charles Stafford, Jackson county civi lian defense .director, and Col. H. R. Jordan. Ashland CD di rector, are scheduled to attend a statewide CD meeting at Sal em, March 22. Officials from all levels of government will be on the program and all city and county CD directors are invited to attend. Discussions will be held on numerous phases of the civilian defense requirements and emergencies. Sams Valley PTA A variety show will be sponsored Friday by members of the Sams Valley Parent-Teacher association. Acts will include Eve Prentice accor dion group of Medford, special groups of Crater High school and a cowboy troubadour. The show will be held at Sams Val ley Grange hall March 18, at 8 p.m. Refreshments will be serv ed. The show is an annual fund raising event for the association. From Georgia Mrs. Herb Grey, 42 South Barneburg rd., arrived home Sunday after be ing for five weeks in Georgia. She visited the Grey's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herb J. Grey, who live at Dear ing, Ga. He is stationed with the Army signal corps at Camp Gor don. While Mrs. Grey was there, her son and daughter-in-law be came parents of a son, born Feb. 14. He has been named Her bert George for his paternal grandfather. En route Mrs. Grey visited at Atlanta, Ga., about 135 miles from Dearing. Conger-Mor ris funeral home is in charge of local arrangements. The deceased was born Oct. 25, 1885. in Wichita, Kan., and had lived in Jacksonville for the past seven years. He served in the U. S. Navy from Jan. 21, 1903, to Oct. 24, 1910, as a coxs wain. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Maude Porter, Jackson ville: three step sons, Kenneth Bradley, Anaheim, Calif.; Floyd Bradley, Sacramento, Calif.; and Jess Bradley, Grants Pass; a step-daughter, Mrs. Merle May- field, Canyonville, Ore.; a siS' ter, Mrs. Mabel Shaw, Santa Rosa, Calif.; his mother, Mrs Nellie Waddleton, Santa Rosa, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. CHARLES GREGG Funeral services for Charles Newton Gregg, 85, a native of Jackson county who died in Jacksonville Sunday, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Chapel Mortuary with the Rev. Norman K. Tully, pastor of the Jacksonville Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will be in Jacksonville ceme tery. The deceased was born near Applegate on April 21, 1869, and was married in Jacksonville in 1894 to Maggie May Oldaker, who died in 1905. His father had come to Jacksonville in 1851 and for many years operated a store at Logtown. Survivors include two sons, George E. and Raymond C, both of Eagle Point; and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Roundtree, O 1 y m p i a, Wash. Services Continue The Rev. and Mrs. C. The deceased was born March 22, 1864, in Michigan, and had lived in southern Oregon for many years. Her husband, Er nest Wilhelm, died in August, 1944.
