You can't style Ameri cans as moderate drinkers. Yet the French drink eight times as much alcoholic liquors as Amer icans. Great majority of people in this country do not start their serious drinking until the cock tail hour. The average French man starts drinking early in the morning and continues to im bibe all day. The French bistros open their bars at 5:30 in the morning and are soon packed with customers having their first drink of the day. Horses and Women If a man does not try to kiss a girl on the first date it usually is because he is trying to be diplomatic. If he doesn't try to kiss her on the second date, that it not a good sign. It is possi ble he will not make a good hus band. The men who make the best husbands are those who find the women they admire ir resistible. On this all experts are agreed. Remembering "When speaking of great writ ers of popular songs," writes a Chicagoan, "don't forget that genius from Joplin, Mo., Percy Wenrich, who wrote more than a hundred song hits, among them "Put on Your Old Gray Bon net,' 'When .You Wore a Tulip' j and 'On Moonlight Bay.' " .Sidelights "Most Pisces (February 20 March 20) women are flat chest ed," writes a Bostonian. "They make a mistake in trying to look like Scorpios by false means. Be better if they deveU oped their personalities to in terest men" . . . This country's best potato salad is made in the delicatessen shops of Manhat tan. Also the best sandwiches. My favorite sandwich is ham and Swiss cheese on rye. With a little potato salad on the side. Mood for Love What is there about a voyage by. sea that puts so many wo men in the mood for love? Why do such a great number of fe males become involved in heat ed love affairs with comparative strangers while on ocean trips? Is it the moonlight,' the sea air, or what?. A.phychoanalyst com menting on the situation said "Women are emotionally affect ed by the rythmic movement of the ship and the feeling of be ing absent from reality." Please Note The record for living ex-hus bands is six, held by Arline Judge. What is . the record for living ex-fiances? -A San Fran ciscan says she was engaged to eight times before she married. All her former fiances are liv ing. None died of a broken heart. She doesn't says if all her fiances gave her engage ment rings. Also whether or not she gave the losers their, rings back. That could be interesting. Real Stars Darryl F. Zanuck, the con scientiously dynamic film pro ducer recently said, "There are no more than half a dozen real international film stars.
