Postal Clerks Hold District Session; HearVice-President - Chris Christensen, Portland, national vice-president of the Federation of Post Office Clerks, who recently returned to Oregon from attending com mittee meetings on postal legis lation in "Washington, D.C., ad dressed the district session of the federation here Sunday. Clerks and the women's auxili ary met at the Jackson hotel.- The 70 members in attend ance represented Portland, Eu gene, Salem, Corvallis, Grants Pass, Ashland, Klamath Falls, Central Point and Medford. Discussed Legislation Christensen discussed the forthcoming legislation concern ing pay raises and re-classification. A question and answer period was .conducted following his talk. : : . -' State officers in attendance included Norman Rue, Salem, president of the state federation; Mrs. Doris Buckridge,. Eugene, state auxiliary president; John L. Ellis, -state secretary-treasurer, Corvallis; Budd Gail, Med ford, state vice-president; sev enth district; Harel Buckridge, Eugene, national state represen tative; Ruby Rue, Salem, state secretary-treasurer of the aux iliary; . W. D. Heatherington, state legislative representative, Corvallis; Jewel Crocker, Med ford, president of Auxiliary 342; Geneva Hargitt, Grants Pass, auxiliary vice-president, district 7, and Harold D. Hicks, Klamath Falls, state vice-president. -Coffee Hour . ; The session was preceded by a coffee hour. Guests were wel comed to .Medford by Post master Moore . Hamilton, Ray Allred of Central Point, state past president, acted as toast master. Also present were Mrs. Allred, past president of the state auxiliary, and E. A. Ker linger, president of the Grants Pass Clerks local; J. Boyce Kel logg, president of the Medford local, and Virginia Hunt, presi dent of the auxiliary in Grants Pass. , Post office supervisors were represented by Earl .York,, su perintendent of mails, and ' Stan ley G. Sherwood, assistant , su perintendent of mails, Medford post office. ' ; Larry Rose,, president of the Medford chapter of the National Association, of Letter Carriers and a membe of the' state execu tive board, represented his or ganization. : The meeting was opened by Kellogg. . R. G. -Beach, . retired member, led the organization in prayer, and the business session was conducted by Budd Gail, as presiding officer of District 7. Members of the Ladies Aux iliary in a separate meeting dis cussed methods of helping ob tain the results desired by the postal workers. The banquet, which concluded the activities of the' district ses sion, was attended by 50 guests. EX-COMMANDER DIES Los Angeles U.R) Funeral services will be held Friday for Verne S. The hall was decorated with cherry trees, red hatchets, etc. with Old Glory in. the background.- Taking part in tableaux, depicting events in the life of Washington,' were Mildred Wright, Vada Page, Icie Walker-and Hal Bishop, A. A. Walker gave a reading on "Washington, : the Man.' -; Intiie dining room the tables were decorated in the - same theme. The attendance prize was won by Mrs. Elliott.
