Among those who utilize the aforementioned .method of thought stimulation is the Duch ess of Windsor. She can stand on her head for several minutes at a time and often does. Horses and Women A random remark, made in a spirit o f constructive criticism, seems to have irritated, even irked, some of our feminine sub scribers. It was the observation that "only a 16 year old, blue eyed blonde looks-ovell in a large hat." It was added that wearing the outsized headgear makes other females look like "ani mated "mushrooms." Am certain any person of perception pos sessed of- a sense of proportion will be in agreement with this. There are too many women who are really beautiful but you can't tell it because of the hats they wear and the way they wear them.. Ex-Husbands Arline Judge has six living ex husbands. If this isn't the United States record for living ex-husbands what is? Understand Ar line is seriously , considering marrying once more. We hope her next spouse can rightly be styled her "lucky seventh." It would be interesting if all Ar line's six ex-husbands attended her . seventh - wedding. . Real name of musical maestro you mention is Francisco de Asis Xavier Cugat Mingall de Bruy Deuloffo. Q. Are you bald headed? A. Not yet. Passing by Nevada Smith. Truly beautiful ex-show girl. Now Mrs. Jack Frye. The Nevada is not a nick name. That is the' name her papa and mama gave her. Inci dentally, the first name of Ten nessee Williams, the playwright, is an acquired one. His real name is Thomas Lanier- Williams and he is from Mississippi. He never had any luck with his plays until he changed his first name to Tennessee. Keep that in mind, young fellow. If you can't sell your songs, novels, plays or tele vision scripts and your first name is Tom, Dick or Harry why not change it. to Kentucky, Flor- ida or Idaho? Pronunciation Discussion as to the correct pronunciation of Fouquet's and Lajoie brings to - mind - that names, . like words, are not- al ways pronounced according to the way they are spelled. For ex ample, I knew two fellows who spelled their name "Clough." However, one pronounced his name. "Clow" and the other pro nounced his name "Cluff." Historical Notes Graribaldi, the Italian patriot, lived for. a period, on S'taten Island. So did the exiled Mexi can General Santa Ana. While living on Staten. Island Santa Ana inspired the invention of chewing gum.- The general was in the .habit of chewing chicle. This gave his secretary, a man named Adams, the idea of add ing sweetening to the chicle for the purpose of making a commer cial product. So chewing gum was born. So you knew that. All right, smart fellow, did , you know that Talleyrand, originator of that often quoted recipe for coffee, once lived in Brooklyn? On Fulton Street, to be exact.
