Session Here
An invitation to Oregon "Wo
rn e n ' s Christian Temperance
union to meet here for a state
convention September 7 through
9 has been accepted, the local
union announced last week. A
letter of acceptance was read
during a meeting Thursday of
the Medford union at Girls Com'
munity club.
Mrs. Glen Hayes of Evanston
I1L, the national president of
the union, will be the main
speaker at the convention.
The Rev. E. J. Gilstarp was
main speaker for the afternoon
The Rev. R. W. Hum gave the
devotionals and Edward Taylor
furnished special music in the
patriotic theme in observance of
Lincoln's and Washington's
birthdays. He also provided mu
sic for a memorial service for
the founder of the organization,
Frances E. Willard.
Mrs. Olaf Severson, the pro
gram director, presented the
speaker, and Mrs. G. O. Sanden
gave a brief tribute to the
founder. She pointed out that a
statue of Frances E. Willard is
the only statue of a woman in
the Hall of Fame at Washington,
D.C. and that many buildings
and places have been named in
her honor.
Patriotic colors were used to
decorate the refreshment table.
Miss Elizabeth Burr, Mrs. Vivian
Kyker and Mrs. H. G. Wilson
were in charge.
Members are asked to save
items for a rummage sale which
is planned.

The Rev. Hugo Gurney of
the Grants Pass St. Paul's Lu
theran church officiated for the
double-ring ceremony, held in
Shan Creek Grange hall.
Mrs. Jack Henderson, Gold
Hill, served as matron-of-honor
and Kenneth McCormick, broth
er of the bridegroom acted as
best man. The ushers, were
JackieMcCormick, another broth
er of the bridegroom, and Bobby
Wilde, brother of the bride.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a yellow
nylon dotted Swiss gown and
her headpiece was of yellow car
nations.- She carried a single
orchid on a white . Bible.
Mrs. Henderson's gown was
of blue faille and her flowers
were pink rosebuds formed in
a corsage.
Music was furnished by Mrs
LeRoy Barnes, Miss Nancy Bul-
lard and Miss Janet Sutton.
Mothers of : the bride and
bridegroom wore navy blue
dresses and their , accessories
were white. Both wore corsages
of white carnations.
Miss Darlene Lehm and Miss
Lorna Thompson poured the cof
fee and punch served during the
reception in the Grange dining
room. Miss Lucille Biles, a cous
in of the bride -was in charge
of the guest book.
Out-of-town, guests from Gold
Hill included Mr. and "Mrs. R.
W. Dusenberry, maternal grand
parents of the bride; Raymond
Dusenberry, the bride's uncle;
Mrs. A. W. Kendall, aunt of
the bride and her children,
James, Kenneth and Kerry; Mrs.
Ivan "Smith, the bride's great
aunt, and Mrs. Nora Wait, great-great-aunt
of the bride. From
Murphy were Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Tucker -
The bride is a 1954 graduate
from Grants Pass high school
and the bridegroom was gradu
ated from the same school in
1953. He is to return February
17 to. Treasure Island, San Fran
cisco, for reassignment with the
Navy.-He has been on duty with
the flagship of the 7th fleet. The
bride will remain in Grants Pass.

15th Anniversary at Luncheon
r Medford Sojourners club celebrated the 15th anniversary of
organization with a lunclfeon at the Medford hotel Thursday.
Nearly 70 members, inactive members and guests were present.

Missionary Circle
To Meet on Monday
A program concerning Portu
gal will be conducted Monday,
February 14, during a meeting
of Gorsline missionary circle of
the First . Baptist church. Mrs.
Helmar T. Tinseth, 1300 Queen
Anne avenue, will be the host
ess in her home. Mrs. William
Uhrine will be in charge of the
program. The business session
is to open at 7:45 p.m.
. Devotions are being planned
by Mrs. Kennejth Bramhall. The
White Cross items to be taken
to the meeting this session are
pastel colored wash cloths.
Members also are to take
items of clothing and other ar
ticles which have been signed
for and which are to be sent to
the Ralph Gorslines. The articles
should be gift wrapped.
Scissors will be required for
White Cross work..

On Government
A p a n e 1 discussion by. the
eighth grade students of St.
Mary's . academy opened the
February meeting of the Par
ents club of St. Mary's Grade
school Monday evening.
Preceding the discussion the
entire class recited the pream
ble to the' United States con
stitution. The members of " the
panel traced the origin of our
self-government from its begin
nings in old England, through
its development in early Amer
ica and finally leading to the
constitution as it is today.

members of the FL club, when

guests attended. Preceding the
meeting several of the members
attended a theater in Medford
and returned to the party later.
Next meeting of the group
will be at the home of Mrs. Rob
ert Booth on February 22.
