! Nazarenes Feature Boys, Girls Clubs Training. Program Boys and Girls clubs, a part of the week, day training pro gram of the Church of the Naz arene, will be featured Sunday . in the Sunday school session at the church, Holly and First sts. This program is organized under , the name "Caravans." The boys and girls are called Indian , maidens and braves, s, , They wear distinctive uni i forms and learn handcrafts and receive instruction in religion and life. The program is denomination-wide, although the clubs ' have been functioning for only a year in Medford. The Naz- 0 arenes have five caravans in op " eration with a total membership j of over 50 children. ; To Appear The youngsters will appear in the opening exercises of the ; adult department to show what ; has been learned. Older persons s of the church, especially those retired will be asked to teach j crafts and hobbies to the young sters. Worship services at the 3t Church of the Nazarene Sunday will include a number by the choir. Mrs. Dorothy Rees will sing a solo. The pastor, the Rev, Raymond W. Hum, will speak on. the subject "How to Tell When You Are in Love," in & keeping with the Valentine sea o son. a The Sunday evening service " will feature music by. the newly organized male chorus, a solo . by Ed Taylor, the choir, and a . mixed quartet. A prelude of , music will be presented by the orchestra. Leaves The Rev. Kenneth Korby, pas tor of " St. Peters, will be in Port land to conduct Bible study for the Lutheran youth group con vention. Next week the Rev. Korby will preach at; the chapel services of Concordia college, . which is, beginning the celebra- tion of its 50th year in the training of young men in prepa- - ration for the Lutheran minis try. , It was also announced that Rev. Korby will attend the Ore gon pastoral conference to be held in Portland during next week. . 'Let There Be Light' Theme of Conference ' "Let There Be Light" is the ' theme for the February Mis sionary rally of the Churches of God in southern Oregon. The Medford church, pastored by . the Rev. D. H. Jones, will play host to this rally. The program begins at 2:30 pjn. on Thurs 1 day, Feb. 17, in the church sanc tuary with delegate registra tions., ' Program A Children's hour, area re port time, and Fellowship din ner will make up the afternoon program. The Rev. C.Beahm of Klamath Falls will address the rally at 7:45 p.m. on, "Let There .Be Light." The evening offering will be directed to World service for use on the Mission - station in India. The churches of God in Grants Pass, Medford, Ashland, and Klamath Falls will be partici pating in this rally. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE "Soul" will be the subject of the sermon-lesson at the Chris tian Science church Sunday. The Scriptural account of sight ' re stored to blind Bartimaeus, (Mark 10:49-52) will be cited as evidence that the soul harmon izes the body through prayer, church officers explained. ;' A passage will be read from Page 210 of the Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Carl Truex, D.D., who has served as interim pas tor of the First Baptist church since Oct. 10, will give his last two Sunday messages here Feb. 13. At the 11 a.m. worship hour, he will speak on the subject, Faith, Hope, Love." Music will be provided at the service by the adult choir under the direc tion of J. Robert Cochran. At the opening of the service at 7:30 p.m., Dr. Truex will ad minister the ordinance of bap tism to a member of candidates for church membership. His message for the evening will be another taken from the book of Revelation. "The Two Wit nesses." Dr. Truex will leave Medford Feb. 17, for McMinnville, Ore., where he will conduct an 8-day Bible conference. A covered dish dinner will(be given in his nonor Wednesday evening at 6:30, in connection with the reg ular mid-week service. The Rev. Truex will at that time give his closing message to the church. All members and friends of the church are invited to attend this dinner. The Rev. James Neely of Al bany, Ore., has accepted the pastorship of the church and is to arrive here about March 1. St. Mark's Will Honor Boy Scouts The 11 a.m. service at St. Mark's Episcopal church on Sun day will observe Boy Scout week. Leaders and members of various units have been invited to attend. Sermon Topic Sunday Dr. West will speak at both morning services on the Adult Religious Classes Planned Classes of instruction for adults in all pha'ses of the Chris tian religion will open Sunday at St. Mark's Episcopal church at 9:30 a.m. The classes are open to all , interested persons with out commitment, and also will serve as a preparation course for those contemplating com municant, membership in the church through confirmation. The classes coincide with the church's Sunday school hqurs for the convenience oi tnose wishing to leave their children in church school during the class period. Owing to congestion in the church buildings the classes will be held in the Chapel of the Perl Funeral home through the cour tesy of Frank Perl. Interest in learning " more' about religion and the church is the only re- auisite for attendance. The course now starting will continue through until May 1. February 11, 19S3 Religious Census Will Be ,; Eleven Medford churches willj participate in a city-wide reli gious census here Sunday after noon, March 6,' it was announced today. i ; ; .. ' . . Cochairmen for the census are the Rev. Keneth F. Korby of St. Peter's Lutheran church and the Rev. D. Kirkland 'West, First Presbyterian church. ' Other participating churches are the First Christian church, Church of the Nazarene, Con gregational, Eastwood Baptist, Medford Friends church, Zion Lutheran, Bethel Baptist, First Methodist and Sacred Heart Catholic churches. The census is part of a state wide survey to determine church membership in the state and in individual areas, as well as to unearth facts indicating present and future church needs. The census here will also attempt to relate every Medford family to a church as that church's re sponsibility. Census takers will ; ask for Attend Conference subject, "What Makes Church Attractive?" Music will include anthems by the Chancel and Westminster choirs and the solo ist will be Robert Wright. , ' At the evening service the Senior Westminister fellowship will be led by Jim Martolin and Roy Williams as they discuss the topic "What is Life?!'
