c TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Reception Given In Butte Falls For Newiyweds Butte Falls Mr. and llrs. "William A. Hartlerode Jr., of Klamath Falls, were honored January 2 at a reception, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hartlerode, Bu tte Falls. The couple's wedding was a recent event at Reno, Nev. The bride is the former Miss Beth Abbott daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elga Abbott, also of Butte Falls. About 40 persons attended and all -were relatives of the couple with' the exception of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Driscol, friends who had accompanied them to Reno for the wedding. Mrs. Driscol was matron of honor and he was best man. for the wedding. Games were played at the re ception and the couple was pre sented gifts. Refreshments were served from a table decorated for the occasion by the bride's mother. Pink carnations, white stock and fern with pink candles and appointments of crystal centered the table. Mrs. Abbott had also decorated the cakes served for refreshments. Attending from Medford were Mr. and Mrs. B. Abbott and daughters, Dianne and Sandra; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gilmore and daughters, Jeanne, Joanne and Janice; Mrs. Josephine Johnson, grandmother of the bridegroom and Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Meadows. Those there from Rogue River were Mr. and Mrs. Ramon McComb, Mr. and Mrs. William Harris and Roger and Pamela Harris. On Sunday, the day following the reception, Mrs. W. A. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster performed the ceremony at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon. About 100 guests attended, ine brides parents are Mr, and Mrs. S. Glenn Watson, 215 Renault avenue, and the bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gardner Sr., 38 Renault avenue. Mrs. Fred Gardner Jr., a sister-in-law of the bride, was ma tron of honor. The bride's sister, Pamela Watson, was a junior bridesmaid. Fred Gardner Jr., a brother of the bridegroom, was best man and ushers were Jerry True, Fred Rawson and Jerry Reeder. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white orlon and wool ballerina length dress .with pearl trim, and her headpiece was a bishop's cap of white chrysanthermimus. She carried a white prayer book, a gift from the bridegroom, with white chrysanthemums. The bride's sister was dressed in blue crystaline and her nose gay was of pink and white chrys anthemums. Both attendants wore bishop's caps which matched their dresses and which were trimmed in pearls. Baskets of white chrrysanthe mums and white tapers decor ated the altar. Baskets of blue pink and white chrysanthemums decorated the front of the church. The reception tables were dec orated with tapers and chrysan themums and wedding cake and punch were served. Miss Sharon Zumwalt cut the wedding cake and Miss Sandra Robinson was in charge of the guest book. Miss Beverly Cos ier poured the punch. Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Watson entertained at tneir nome on Old Military road at a 5 o'clock wedding dinner after the re ception. At the dinner were the bride and bridegroom's parents, and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Watson and children, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gardner Jr., and children, Mrs. Charles Clark and daughter, Carol, and Mrs. Helen Watson. Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. A. Bert Freeman, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Falwell and family,, all of Ashland; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Falwell, Grants Pass, and Mrs. Clark and daughter who are from Oakland, Ore. The couple made a wedding trip to the Oregon coast and San Francisco and returned here the end of the week. They are liv ing at 224 12 Renault avenue. Both the bride and bride groom have lived in Medford their entire lives. The bride is in her junior year at Medford Senior High school, and the bridegroom also attended the same school. He has recently completed a four-year tour of duty with the Navy and is em- i ployed at the Gardner Automo tive Machine shop. Medford Woman Named .to Council Mrs. Herman ,J. Meiring, 2460 Hillcrest road, Medford, Oregon, has been appointed to represent Medford on the Wom en's Army corps advisiory coun cil for the Oregon recruiting dis trict. SFC Warren M. Long, Army recruiting representative, stated today. On a recent visit to Medford first Lt. Moray J. Black, WAC recruiting officer for the state of Oregon, explained that the WAC advisory council would consist of outstanding civic - minded women within the communities of the Btate. The purpose of the council is to assist the United States Army in its plan to inform the general public and qualified young wom en of the opportunities available in the Women's Army corps. YOU CAN'T MISS... Valentine Season Popular Time for Spring Parties The valentine season is a favorite time for parties, and many coming events will be themed to St. Valentine's day. The annual valentine luncheon and style show of Reames Social club is set for Wednesday, Febru ary 9, in the Masonic hall in Medford. Newest spring cloth ing from Adrienne's, Jean Hart's, Burelson's, Mann's and Robinson brothers, men's store, will be shown. Burelsons will also show hats and Mann's will feature children's clothing. Mrs. Morris Boughner is gen eral chairman and assisting her are Mesdames Ira D. Canfield, Jack Caldwell, John Esp, John Smith, G. T. Haupert, C. H. Lewis and E. G. Randolph. Hostesses for the afternoon will be Mesdames Jack Ward, worthy matron of Reames chap ter, Vernon Turpin, Fred Purdin, Jack Caldwell and John Esp. A valentine formal dance has been planned at Rogue Valley Country club for Saturday, Feb ruary 12. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served between 8 and 9 o'clock, and dinner and dancing are planned from 9 p. m. until 1 a. m. Miss Doris Hall And Fred West Married Recently The wedding of Miss Doris Hall and Fred West January 21 at Klamath Falls was announced here last week. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Hall, Bly, Ore., and the- bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie R. West, 1175 Brookdale road. The couple chose the date of the wedding anniversary of the bridegroom's parents for their wedding day. Mrs. D. L. Spiker attended the bride and Mr. Spiker was best man. For her wedding the bride wore a navy blue linen suit. A reception was held at the home of Mrs. J. A. Hall. Wed ding cake and other refresh ments were served and the bride and bridegroom were presented gifts. The bride attended Weiser, Ida., and Bly schools and the bridegroom attended schools at Bly and Medford. He is awaiting orders from the Navy. Group Has Party On Anniversary; Install Officers The 18th anniversary of the organization of the Electa So cial club was observed by mem bers of the group Friday after noon at the Girls Community club, when new officers were installed. Mrs. Harris M. Olson was the installing officer. Mrs. Nina Chandler is now the president; Mrs. Clara Frank lin, vice-president, and Mrs. Dana Bowers, secretary-treasurer. Appointive officers are Mrs Laura Aldridge, musician, and Mrs. A. L. Schrack, press corres pondent. Honored guest at the meeting was Mrs. Jack Ward, worthy matron of Reames chapter, Or der of the Eastern Star. Cards were played during the afternoon and Mrs. Chandler won a prize. The entertainment committee was made up of Mrs. Roberts. Mrs. Olson and Mrs. J. A. Mat thews. The next meeting of the club will be February 25 when Mrs. Frank Root, Mrs. Etta Pryor and Mrs. Clarence Pankey will serve as hostesses. 4 Phipps Return Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Phipps have returned to their home at 4502 Crater Lake highway after spending three weeks in Phoe nix, Ariz., as guests of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. M. City Officials To Be Speakers For League Here Mayor Earl Miller, City Man ager Robert Duff and City Treas urer Darrel Huson, will be guest speakers for a luncheon meeting of Medford League of Women Voters to be held at the Jackson hotel Saturday, February 12, at 12:30 p.m. The program will be related to the "Know Your Town" sur vey the league is doing. It is planned to give league members first hand information on how the new form of city govern ment functions, the problems facing it, what it hopes to achieve, and how it will go about achieving these. The first will be Tuesday, February 8, at 2:30 p. m., to honor Mrs. Theodore Wedel, Washington, D. C, who will ar rive in the city that; day. She will be here to confer with lead ers and groups active in the Epis copal church on an expansion program of the National Cathed ral association. Mrs. Wedel is the wife of the Rev. Mr. Wedel, cathedral canon and warden of the College of Preachers in the capital city. Reservations for the luncheon at which Mrs. Wedel will be hon ored should be made not later than Monday noon through the office of the church. Delega tions are expected from the var ious parishes and missions throughout southern Oregon. While here Mrs. Wedel will not only acquaint the Episcopal groups with the broad plans of NCA but she hopes that a num ber of regional committees for the association can be created and regional chairmen selected. Second o the luncheons will be the monthly meeting of St. Mark's auxiliary-guild and will be Friday, February 11, at 12:30 p.m. Both will be in the parish house. Frame and Mrs. R. E. Green. Reuggers Leave -For Switzerland Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Reugger, 706 Dakota street, left Tuesday by plane on a trip which will take them to Switzerland. They went by way of San Francisco and New York City. At New York they will visit a brother of Mr. Reugger, and his family. They plan to be in Switzer land for about two months and there they will visit with two of Mr. Reugger's sisters whom he has not seen for about 30 years, since he came to America to live. Stewart in dou ble ring rites read January 11 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Ashland. The bride has remain ed here to live at the horn of the bridegroom's mother, Airs. Betty Stewart, 506 Union street, and the bridegroom is scheduled to leave today from Seattle for Korea for service 'with the Army. The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard White of Crofton, arrived here a short time before the wedding. She at tended Crofton High school and the bridegroom attended Med ford High school before entering the service.- After his discharge from the Army the couple plans to attend Bible college and later enter the ministry of the Assembly of God church.
