Skull Fracture Kenneth Dun-
lap, 24, Butte Falls, an employee
of Medford corporation, was ad
mitted this morning to Commu
nity hospital for injuries he re-
'ceived when he was hit by a
limb while driving a tractor; ac
cording to attendants. He is re-
ported to have a skull fracture.

Firemtn Called Wiring in a
television set shorted out, caus
ing., a small fire in the power
unit at the home of Zetta An
drews, 615 South Central ave.,
firemen said. There was no oth
er damage. Firemen were sum
moned to a reported house fire
at the .Roscoe Larson home, 203
Vancouver ave., about 11 a.m.
yesterday. They found that pa
per boxes placed in the fireplace
had flared up, burning out the
flue. No damage Was reported.

Navy Air controlman second
class while serving at the Navy
air station at Whidbey island at
Oak - Harbor, Wash., according
to a Navy release. His wife is
the former Miss Beverly E. Sor
enson, Portland. Before entering
the Navy Coghill was graduated
from Medford High school and
the University of Oregon at
Eugene. He was employed by
the Electric Steel foundry . in

ens, 26r on of Mr. and Mrs. F.
E. Stevens, 605 North Columbus
ave., recently was on a week's
leave from his, unit in Korea at
Kobe, Japan, according to an
Army release. He is a member
of : the 37th medical company.
His wife lives at Berkeley, Calif.

Richard T. Hanson, 21, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur G. Hanson,
863 Marshall ave., recently was
promoted to corporal while serv
ing with the Army 25th infan
try division at Hawaii. He is an
aidmen in the medical detach
ment -of the division artillery
and he entered the Army in Feb
ruary, 1953. He arrived overseas
in September of that year. His
division, known as the "Tropic
Lightning", division, recently re
turned to Hawaii from Korea
and is continuing a vigorous
post - truce training program
which began after the cease fire.

To Sheriff's Office
Two burglaries were reported
to the Jackson county sheriff's
office yesterday. .
George Al 'Whepley, route 1,

someone had 'broken- into :'a
cabin at Yank gulch and took a
.22 rifle.; Entry was made by
forcing a window, officials said.
A lock on an inside gun cabinet

was reported burglarized recent

POLICE HIRE GIRLS

lice, grieved by complaints that
their headquarters is unattrac
tive, have assigned four pretty
girls to meet people at the buil
ding's two entrances. Officials
also have ordered the women to
take charm courses.
Two Damage Suite Filed in Court
" Two separate damage r suits,
each seeking $13,000 in general
damages, were filed this week in
circuit court. . -.
One complaint was filed by
Marie Clark against Glen W.
and Louise Hunsaker. An auto
mobile accident, Oct." 23 near
the intersection of Antelope rd.
and Highway 62, is involved.
The complaint alleged v the
plaintiff suffered neck injuries
and was disabled as a result of
the accident. Besides the general
damages, the plaintiff is asking
for $286.44 in special damages.
In the other case, Greta Hol
lowell is the plaintiff and Lloyd
Thomas Nelson and O. A." Selby
are defendants. The suit alleges
that Nelson was operating Sel r
by's car at the time of. the acci-"
dent, and that the plaintiff was
a passenger in a car operated by-'
Charles Hollowell on Nov. 18,'
1953, on McAndrews rd., and .
that the plaintiff received per
manent partial disability as a
result of the incident. Special
damages of $178.25 are being
asked, besides the general sum. 1
