Brady. 263 El Camieo, Beverly HiHs, Cal. MY RECOMMENDATION MAKES CHEAP MEDICINE EXPENSIVE j Dr. Brady For many years you could buy in any drugstore for a few cents the medicine I recommended for this or that trouble such as Eodium ci trate; boric acid; iron-and a m moniumci trates; salicy lic acid and flexible collod ion or a ready made solution of salicylic acid (30 grains) in one-half fluid-ounce of flex ible collodion, commonly known as corn cure; unground flaxseed; dried chamomile flowers (Hun garian, German, Italian, English whatever kind the druggist has) for making chamomile tea to ap ply, to leg ulcer, as directed in the pamphlet on Varicose Veins and Varicose Ulcer (available on request if you provide stamped, self-addressed envelope). - From a few isolated and far fetched instances of alleged poi soning by one or another of these home remedies the medical big shots who hate " my vital contents manage to persuade the federal bureau to issue a regula tion providing that the medicine shall be sold only on physician's prescription. An1 Iowa reader .complains that, having used the salicylated collodion corn remedy for many years, always' with satisfaction, now he finds that the salicylic acid part of it requires a phy sician's prescription and the man understandably dislikes the idea of paying a doctor $3 to author ize the druggist to sell him a few cents' worth of salicylic acid. Well, the doctors have to live, don't they? Sodium citrate (citrate of soda) was used for years in the baby's bottle to prevent formation of large curds. It is the main in gredient in the Fool Proof Cough Medicine, the preparation and use of which for children and adults, I describe in Little Lesson No.-5, Call it C R I, for which booklet send 25c and stamped, self -addressed envelope. ,Many. druggists now inform my readers that they can't sell an ounce of sodium citrate with out a physician's prescription. Whether this is some municipal or Estate regulation or one im posed by the federal bureau, it is absurd and, in my opinion, not motivated by an honest con cern for public welfare. For many years S. S. B. A. (saturated solution of boric acid) has been used in hospitals, dis pensaries and homes as a safe, non-irritating or actually sooth ing solution for eye wash, mouth wash, gargle, wound washing. In the nursery the rubber nipples for nursing bottles have- been kept in S.S.B.A. between feed ingsP Generations of physicians and nurses have used boric acid but now some obscure "scien tific investigator" has sold to a ' tOTiM Three Jackson County report of his findings which show . - ; . . - . -. j . . - that boric acid is a dangerous poison and should be forthwith discarded ... This is ridiculous. Boric scid is as useful and as safe as it was before the magazine article was printed. MI. n l Due to technological ad vancements, you'll soon be able to buy boneless frank furters. This will no doubt give the hamless hocks people a run for their money. dOitkJbajuM) TV Programs FRIDAY 3:50 Devotions 4 uo feminine fancies 4:30 Val Rogue Camera " 5:00 Aunt PoUy's Birthday Party 5:30 Superman - 6:00 Smilin' Ed's Gang , 6:30 Hollywood Album 7-nn r..Tn.4. c 7:45 Greatest Moments in Snorts 8:00 Pappy Coleman Slow 8:15 TV Tunes 8:30 Life of Riley 9:00 4-Star Flaynouae 9:30 Sportstime 10:00 The Line l 10:30 Weather 10:35 News 10:40 Sign Off " KBES (Channel 5) SATURDAY . . 12:00 to 2 :00 Pro-basketball . 3:50 Devotions - 4:00 Mr. Wizard 4:30 Faith for Today , 5:00 Western Theater . 5:30 Flash Gordon ' 6:30 Melody Wranglers : .
