Central Avenue at 3rd Street 117 S. CENTRAL O o H . jp Society and Clubs Consumer Specialist Advises Housewives On Good Beef Buys If your budget is a bit strain ed after the holidays, try this tip from Dorothy Sherill, con sumer education specialist with Oregon State college extension service. Select a large beef arm pot roast at the market about three inches thick. Have the butcher cut the roast into three parts, the center for pot roast, one end sliced through for swiss steak, and the other end cut for stew, chili or beef steak pie. Housewives will find this a more economical buy than pur chasing the cuts separately, Miss Sherrill says. When you prepare these meat cuts whether for pot roast, swiss steak or stew, be sure to brown the meat well on a med ium heat. Good browning devel ops flavor and seals in the juic es for a finished dish.
